The best things to do in Dubai in winter are the ones that only work from November to March: the Miracle Garden (open to 31 May 2027), Global Village (open to May 2027), the desert at sunset, a sunrise balloon, beach and water days at 24-27°C, and events from the Shopping Festival on 4 December to the Dubai World Cup on 27 March. This guide gives the dates, prices and weather, and says what to book first.

Six things that work best in the cool season
#1
Global Village, Season 31
A seasonal park of country pavilions, street food, shows and rides. The official site lists Season 31 from 14 October 2026 to May 2027, with entry at AED 30 on any day or AED 25 from Monday to Thursday, VAT included. Tuesdays are reserved for ladies and families. Go on a weekday and leave before closing, because the taxi queue is longest then.
#2
Dubai Miracle Garden, Season 15
The official site lists Season 15 from 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027, daily from 9 am to 9 pm with last entry at 8:30 pm. Adult tickets are AED 105 and child tickets for ages 3-12 are AED 84, VAT included. Go before 11 am or after 4 pm, when the light is softer and the shade matters less.
#3
A desert safari at sunset
November to March gives 20-30°C afternoons on the dunes and 14-20°C evenings at the camp, with sunset at about 5:30 PM in December. Our full-day safari is from $45 for the 7-hour programme, with dinner and no prepayment. Bring a light jacket from December to February, because the open desert is colder than the city.
#4
Sunrise hot air balloon
The season runs roughly from September or October to May, and November to March is the sweet spot, with 14-20°C at dawn and clear skies. The flight is $275 per person with hotel pickup, and it sells out one to two weeks ahead. Wind decides on the morning, and a cancelled flight is refunded or moved to a new date.
#5
Beach days on JBR and Kite Beach
Public beaches are free, with lifeguards and showers. In winter the air is comfortable all day, but the sea averages about 22-26°C from December to February, so many visitors swim briefly and use a hotel pool for longer. Sunset comes early, so swim in the early afternoon.
#6
Hatta Dam and the Hajar Mountains
Hatta is a day trip of 1.5-2 hours each way, best from November to March, with kayaks and pedal boats on the dam, a heritage village and short hikes. Official Jebel Jais advice is to hike from October to April, because summer temperatures can pass 40°C. Leave by 8 am and expect to be back around 8 pm.
Best things to do in Dubai in winter: the short answer
Winter, from November to March, is when Dubai's outdoor season runs, so the best things to do are the ones that depend on cool air: the flower garden and Global Village, the desert, the sunrise balloon, beach and water days, and a long list of dated events. Afternoons average 24-31°C, nights 15-21°C and the sea 22-28°C, on 30-year averages, with little rain. The same things in summer mean 38-45°C and a day indoors.
Here is the short list, each with the guide that goes deeper:
- The outdoor season. The Miracle Garden runs from 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027 and Global Village from 14 October 2026 to May 2027, according to their official sites.
- The desert. A full-day safari from $45 and the best time for a desert safari.
- The sky. A sunrise balloon from $275, in its best months from November to March.
- The sea and the beach. Best beaches in Dubai and water sports in Dubai, at their most comfortable from October to April.
- The events. The Dubai Shopping Festival from 4 December, the marathon on 17 January and the Dubai World Cup on 27 March; see what's on in January, February and March.
The winter window, month by month
The table gives the mean daily high and low in °C, the average rainfall in mm and the average sea temperature. The air figures are 30-year averages from NOAA for Dubai International Airport. The sea figures are from seatemperature.org, based on NOAA satellite data; other sources put the winter sea a degree or two lower. They are averages, not forecasts.
| Month | High / low (°C) | Rain (mm) | Sea (°C) | Our guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| November | 30.7 / 21.1 | 6 | 28.4 | Dubai in November |
| December | 26.5 / 17.4 | 15 | 25.6 | Dubai in December |
| January | 24.4 / 15.3 | 21 | 23.9 | Dubai in January |
| February | 26.1 / 16.4 | 10 | 22.4 | Dubai in February |
| March | 28.9 / 18.6 | 22 | 23.6 | Dubai in March |
NOAA 30-year averages for the airport; sea temperatures from seatemperature.org.
Three details shape a winter day. Sunset is early, at about 5:30 PM in December, 5:50 PM in January and 6:25 PM in March, so plan the beach for the early afternoon and the desert or the Marina for the evening. Nights are cool: the January average low is 15.3°C, and the open desert can fall to about 10°C or lower between December and February, so bring a jacket. And rain is rare, but a shower in December to March usually passes within the hour.
Open only in the cool season
These attractions are open only in the cool season. This table uses the official sites where we could read them and the reports we checked for the rest. Prices change, so check the official site on the day.
| Attraction | Season | Hours and entry |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Miracle Garden | 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027 | Daily 9 am to 9 pm, last entry 8:30 pm; adult AED 105, child AED 84, VAT included (official site) |
| Global Village | 14 October 2026 to May 2027 | Sunday to Wednesday 4 pm to midnight, Thursday to Saturday 4 pm to 1 am; AED 30 any day, AED 25 Monday to Thursday (official site) |
| Dubai Safari Park | Reopened on 12 October 2026 | Khaleej Times and Gulf News reported the date; open roughly October to May, so check the official site for prices |
| Wadi Hub adventure park, Hatta | Roughly October to April | Usually open in the cool months; see our Hatta guide |
Two attractions suit one evening each, and the order matters. Go to the Miracle Garden after 4 pm, when the light is softer, and to Global Village on a weekday, when the queues are shorter. Do not stack Global Village on a desert evening: both fill the night. Our guide to Global Village or the Miracle Garden helps you choose, and both are taxi rides, because neither is on the Metro. The Dubai Fountain is free all year and pleasant to watch outside in winter.
The desert and the sky
The desert is the thing to do in winter. From November to March the afternoon on the dunes is 20-30°C and the camp evening 14-20°C, so the dune bashing, sandboarding, camel ride and dinner all happen in comfortable air. Our full-day desert safari is the same 7-hour programme in every month, from $45 with hotel pickup and no prepayment. The evening quad bike safari is from $70 for a full hour of self-drive.
The sunrise balloon is the winter flight. Dawn is 14-20°C from November to March, the air is clear and sunrise is at about 6:30-7:05 AM, so the pickup is the latest of the year. It is $275 per person, it sells out one to two weeks ahead, and wind can ground it, in which case you choose a refund or a new date. Fly early in your trip, so a cancelled dawn can be moved. See the balloon season and weather guide.
For stars rather than dunes, winter nights are the comfortable ones, but cold. The best night is within a few days of new moon, away from the city glow, and a jacket is essential.
Beaches, sea and water sports
Beach weather in winter means a warm afternoon and a cool sea. Public beaches at JBR, Kite Beach and Sunset Beach are free, with lifeguards and showers; see best beaches in Dubai. The sea is about 28°C in November but 22-26°C from December to February, so a short swim on a sunny afternoon is normal and the hotel pool is the longer option.
Winter is also the comfortable season for the sea itself. Our water sports base at Umm Suqeim harbour is at its most comfortable from October to April, and the jet ski, parasailing, flyboard, donut and wakeboard sessions are all available, subject to the minimum ages for each. The jet ski to the Burj Al Arab is from $79 per jet ski. From October to mid-March the sun sets during the 5 PM Marina speedboat departure, which is $60 for the last ride of the day, so you see the skyline at sunset. The 1-hour shared yacht tour is from $32.
Outdoors on land: Hatta, Al Qudra and the mountains
The cool months open the countryside. Hatta is about 130 km from Dubai and 1.5-2 hours each way, with kayaks and pedal boats on the dam, usually around AED 60-80 per person for a session. Our hiking guide says the Hajar Mountains season is October to April, with Jebel Jais, the UAE's highest peak, at 1,934 m. Official Jebel Jais advice is to hike in those months because summer temperatures can pass 40°C.
Cyclists have the Al Qudra track, 80.6 km of continuous desert path according to the RTA, which is free to ride. December to February is the best time, and the rule is to ride before 10 AM or after 4 PM. Bike hire costs roughly AED 50-100 for a few hours.
Events from November to March
Winter is also the event season. The table lists the dated events we could confirm as of 2 November 2026, with the guide for each. Check each organiser before you plan around a date.

The Dubai Racing Club says the World Cup is held on the last Saturday of March, which in 2027 is the 27th, and describes its racing carnival as running from November to March. Ramadan and Eid dates depend on the moon sighting. Some regular winter events, such as the Dubai Food Festival and the Sharjah Light Festival, had no 2027 dates as of 2 November 2026.
Winter planning: crowds, prices and what to book first
Winter is peak season, and it has real downsides. Hotel rates are highest from November to March, in the last two weeks of December and around Eid. Weekends at Global Village and the Miracle Garden are crowded, the sea is cool in January and February, and the day ends early, with sunset at about 5:30 PM in December. The first three weeks of November and the second half of January are the calmer parts of the season, according to our month guides.
Book the things with limited places first: the sunrise balloon, one to two weeks ahead; the Marina yacht tour, a few days ahead; and a Burj Khalifa slot, especially at sunset. The desert safari needs only a date agreed on WhatsApp, with no prepayment. Global Village and the Miracle Garden need no advance booking.
