Five ways to spend February in Dubai

A sunrise balloon in the clearest air #1
Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve; pre-dawn pickup Photographers, couples, a clear mountain view

A sunrise balloon in the clearest air

February is peak balloon season: cold, clear dawns, the sun up at about 6:40-7:05 AM and the Hajar Mountains sharp on the horizon. Valentine's week fills first, so book as soon as your dates are fixed. The flight runs in Ramadan too; ask us about the camp breakfast on your date, and a cancelled flight is refunded in full or moved.

Valentine's week on the water #2
Dubai Marina pier; sunset about 6:00-6:20 PM Couples who want a quiet evening, not a restaurant queue

Valentine's week on the water

A shared yacht hour at sunset, from $32 per person, or a private charter for two is an easier Valentine's plan than a restaurant table on the busiest night. The deck is cool after sunset, so bring a layer. If 14 February falls in Ramadan, as expected this season, keep the evening calm and quiet rather than loud.

Iftar evenings and the dates table #3
Hotel restaurants and cafes citywide, from sunset Visitors in Ramadan who want the local experience

Iftar evenings and the dates table

If your trip overlaps Ramadan, the best evening is iftar, the meal at sunset, at about 6:00-6:20 PM in February. Hotel restaurants lay long tables of Arabic dishes, dates and juices, open to everyone. Book ahead, check the price with the hotel and arrive before sunset; the hour before it is the quietest of the day.

Dubai Miracle Garden #4
Season 15 runs 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027 Flowers, families, photographs

Dubai Miracle Garden

The garden is open daily this season, 9 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and 9 AM to 11 PM at weekends, with adult tickets of about AED 100 excluding VAT according to Gulf News. The theme changes every week this season, and February air is mild enough for the whole walk. Check opening hours before you go in Ramadan.

Old Dubai on foot #5
Al Fahidi, Dubai Creek, the Spice and Gold Souks Walkers, food lovers, first-timers

Old Dubai on foot

February is one of the last months comfortable enough to walk the Creek, the wind-tower lanes and the souks for 3-4 hours. Our walk from $35 includes the abra ride and coffee and dates. In Ramadan, remember the daylight etiquette of no eating or drinking in the street, and ask us how the walk runs on your date.

Dubai in February: the short answer

February is warm, dry and clear, and the sea is the coldest of the year. Days run at about 24-28°C and nights at 15-18°C, with sunrise at about 7:05 AM early in the month and about 6:40 AM at the end, and sunset at about 6:00-6:20 PM. It is peak season, so the desert, the balloon, Abu Dhabi and the Marina are all at their best, and the hotels are priced for it.

This season has one big date. Astronomers, including the Emirates Astronomical Society, expect Ramadan to begin around Monday 8 February 2027, subject to the official moon sighting, so most of the month falls inside it. Ramadan moves about ten days earlier each year, so the following year it begins in late January and your February may be free of it. Read on for what changes and what does not.

What it costs: hotels are the big item in peak season, and rates are usually highest around Valentine's week and half-term. Our tour prices are on the pages: from $45 for the safari and the shared Abu Dhabi day, from $32 for the shared yacht hour and from $275 for the balloon. The month-by-month guide shows how February compares with the rest of the year.

Ramadan in February: what changes if you are here

Ramadan changes Dubai less than first-time visitors fear. Expect it from about 8 February this season, with Eid al-Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March, according to the same astronomers. The month is set by the moon, so the exact day is confirmed only close to the date. Iftar, the meal that breaks the fast, happens at sunset, about 6:00-6:20 PM through February.

WhatIn RamadanYour plan
Restaurants in daytimeMost serve touristsEat inside; hotel restaurants and mall food courts are the easiest
Eating, drinking, smoking outdoorsNot done in daylightKeep water in the taxi or tour vehicle, not on the pavement or the metro
AlcoholHotels and licensed venues, usually from the evening21+ as always; some venues shorten their hours
Live music, DJs, clubsPaused or turned downDinners and rooftop drinks yes, a loud night out no
Malls and shopsOpen later and stay open lateEvenings and nights are the shopping hours
Desert safariRuns dailyDinner after iftar; entertainment may be limited or modified
Abu Dhabi city tourRuns, 8:00 AM pickupNo eating or drinking on the mosque plaza; check the mosque's hours
Sunrise balloonFlies as usual in the cooler monthsAsk us about the camp breakfast on your date

Hours and programmes can shift in Ramadan; we confirm what runs on your date before you pay.

A Ramadan day that works: sights, the pool or the water in the daytime, iftar at about 6:00-6:20 PM, then the desert camp or the malls after dark. Roads are heavy in the hour before sunset as everyone heads home, empty during the meal and busy again after it, so leave extra time for any evening booking.

Dress a notch more covered in daytime, with shoulders and knees covered wherever you go, including the Marina. The full list is in our Ramadan guide for tourists, and the Ramadan dates guide tracks the expected start and Eid. Hotel rates sometimes dip during Ramadan, though not reliably, so compare rather than assume.

Valentine's week, half-term and crowds

February has three busy points. Valentine's week fills the balloon baskets, the sunset yachts and the better restaurants first. European school half-term weeks, usually in mid to late February, bring families. And in Ramadan the evenings fill after iftar, while the daytime city is calmer.

In the coming season 14 February falls in the first week of Ramadan, if the start is as expected. Venues still take bookings, usually from the evening, but check what each offers. Our Valentine's Day guide has four adventures instead of flowers. The balloon is the classic: the romantic sunrise balloon guide explains why.

Both Global Village and the Miracle Garden are 25-35 minutes from Downtown by taxi, so plan the taxi there and back. February is the last month where an outdoor evening at either is comfortable without planning around the heat.

In Downtown, February sunset is at about 6:00-6:20 PM, so a Burj Khalifa slot of about 5:00-5:30 PM catches the daylight, the sunset and the first lights, and the Fountain shows are running when you come down. The best time to visit Burj Khalifa guide has the slot to ask for in every month.

What to pack for February

Pack as for January, with a lighter top layer and a more covered wardrobe if Ramadan applies.

  • Layers: a T-shirt, a light jumper or fleece and a light jacket for evenings and the balloon dawn.
  • Sun protection: sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat; the midday sun is strong.
  • Closed shoes for the dunes and the balloon site.
  • Shoulders and knees covered in daytime, especially in Ramadan; the Abu Dhabi mosque code is stricter, with loose clothing covering ankles and wrists plus a headscarf for women.
  • A refillable bottle, kept for the taxi or the hotel in daylight in Ramadan.
  • A passport or ID copy for tours that need it.

Who February suits, and who should skip it

February suits almost everyone: first-timers, couples and families who want clear skies and mild days. The sea is at its coldest, so swimmers should look at March or later.

Skip it, or move to the second half of January, if you want a loud nightlife trip and Ramadan applies, or if you hate crowded hotels around Valentine's week and half-term. If your dates are fixed, book early and keep the Ramadan etiquette in mind; the rest of Dubai runs as usual.

FAQ

What is the weather in Dubai in February?

Daytime highs of about 24-28°C and night lows of about 15-18°C, with dry, clear skies on most days and a sea of about 20-22°C. Sunset is at about 6:00-6:20 PM. Pack layers for evenings and the desert.

Is Ramadan in February in Dubai?

This season, yes: Ramadan is expected to begin around Monday 8 February 2027, subject to the official moon sighting. Ramadan moves about ten days earlier each year, so in following years it starts in late January.

Can tourists still do things in Ramadan?

Yes. Restaurants serve tourists in the daytime, attractions and tours run, and iftar evenings are lively. Do not eat, drink or smoke in public in daylight, and expect live music to be turned down.

Is February a good time to visit Dubai?

Yes. The weather is dry and clear, the air is mild and the balloon, the desert and Abu Dhabi are at their best. The drawbacks are higher hotel prices, Valentine's week and half-term crowds, and a sea of only 20-22°C.

Can you swim in the sea in Dubai in February?

The sea is at its coldest, about 20-22°C. A short swim on a sunny afternoon is fine, but the hotel pool is more comfortable for longer. April and the months after are warmer.

Is it hard to book the balloon for Valentine's week?

Yes, it fills first. The balloon costs from $275 with a 30% deposit, and baskets sell out one to two weeks ahead, earlier around 14 February, so book when your dates are fixed.
