IMG Worlds of Adventure is the best theme park in Dubai for summer, rain and teenagers; Motiongate is best for children aged 3-12 from November to March; Legoland Dubai is best for under-10s. The first is fully indoors, the other two are open-air parks in Dubai Parks and Resorts. This ranking goes by age group and by month, adds Ski Dubai, Global Village and the Yas Island parks in Abu Dhabi, and says how much a park day takes out of a short trip.

What is the best theme park in Dubai?
IMG Worlds of Adventure for summer, rain and teenagers; Motiongate for children aged 3-12 from November to March; Legoland Dubai for under-10s. Each needs one full day, roughly 6-8 hours, and a few hundred dirhams per adult for a one-day ticket, so book one park per day and compare prices on the official sites.

Six parks, ranked for a family trip
#1
1. IMG Worlds of Adventure
One air-conditioned dome of about 1.5 million square feet with four zones: Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley with its dinosaurs and IMG Boulevard. It ranks first because the weather never changes the plan, so it works in July as well as January. The big rides have height limits and younger children are limited to the gentler Cartoon Network zone, so it is a teen-and-older-child choice.
#2
2. Motiongate Dubai
Four film zones, DreamWorks, Columbia Pictures, Lionsgate and Smurfs Village, partly outdoors and partly under cover. It is the best all-round family park from November to March, when the walks between zones are comfortable. In summer it is hot, so arrive at opening and keep to the indoor rides at midday. Teenagers have the Lionsgate zone; toddlers have Smurfs Village.
#3
3. Legoland Dubai
Built for the 2-12 age range, with a separate water park for hot days, and the calmest of the three big parks. It ranks third only because older children outgrow it fastest. For a family with a four-year-old and a seven-year-old it can be the best day of the trip. It shares a complex with Motiongate, so check whether a combined ticket suits your dates.
#4
4. Ski Dubai (the snow park)
Not a theme park in the rollercoaster sense, but a real indoor snow park kept below freezing, with a chairlift, a slope, sledging and a penguin encounter. It is a half day, easy to reach by Metro, and the best answer to a 42°C afternoon. Our Ski Dubai guide compares the snow park with the slope pass and says what to wear.
#5
5. Global Village (in season)
A seasonal park of national pavilions, food stalls, shows and a funfair with rides, strongest after dark in the cooler months. Entry is inexpensive next to the big parks, so it is the best-value evening in this list. It is closed in summer and dates change each year, so check the current season before you plan around it.
#6
6. Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World (Abu Dhabi)
Yas Island has the biggest thrills in the UAE, including Ferrari World's Formula Rossa, billed as the world's fastest roller coaster, plus Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld. They rank last only because of the drive: the round trip takes three or four hours. Plan them as a dedicated Abu Dhabi day, not as an add-on.
The best theme parks in Dubai: the short answer
IMG Worlds of Adventure is the best theme park in Dubai from May to September and for teenagers. Motiongate is the best for children aged 3-12 from November to March, and Legoland Dubai is the best for under-10s who prefer building to speed. All three need a full day, roughly 6-8 hours, and none is on the Metro.
Ski Dubai and Global Village are not theme parks in the strict sense, but they answer the same question on a smaller scale: a cool half day in summer, and a funfair evening in winter. Across the border in Abu Dhabi, the Yas Island parks offer the biggest thrills but cost you a day on the road.
On cost, expect a few hundred dirhams per adult for a one-day ticket at any of the big three, more for fast-track and at weekends, with child prices set by age and height. We do not print exact prices because they change with the date and the package; compare the official sites. For a side-by-side of the two biggest parks, see IMG Worlds or Motiongate.
Best theme park by age group
Age matters more than anything else here, because height limits and ride types decide who can do what. Use this table to pick the first choice, then check the ride list on the official site.
| Age group | First choice | Second choice | Skip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 3 | Legoland Dubai (built for ages 2-12), a short visit | A shaded beach morning or an aquarium | The thrill parks: most rides are out of reach |
| Ages 3-7 | Legoland Dubai | Motiongate: Smurfs Village and DreamWorks | IMG Worlds' Marvel and Lost Valley rides |
| Ages 8-12 | Motiongate in winter, IMG Worlds in summer | Legoland Dubai, up to about 12 | Nothing: all three work |
| Teenagers | IMG Worlds of Adventure | Motiongate's Lionsgate zone; Ferrari World on a Yas Island day | Legoland Dubai, aimed at ages 2-12 |
| Adults without children | IMG Worlds, or Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi | Ski Dubai for a cool afternoon | Legoland Dubai |
| Mixed ages, one day | Motiongate (zones for every age) in winter; IMG Worlds in summer | Global Village in season | Anywhere with a long drive and no shade in summer |
Height and age limits are set ride by ride; check them on the official site before you travel.
Our guides to IMG Worlds of Adventure, Motiongate and Legoland Dubai go through the rides and ages park by park, and which Dubai Parks and Resorts park to choose helps if you have one day for the Jebel Ali site.
Best theme park by season
The calendar decides whether an open-air park is a pleasure or a test. Dubai's afternoon highs are around 40°C in July and August, and the indoor parks exist for exactly that stretch.
| When | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| November to March | Motiongate, Legoland Dubai, Global Village | Mild days make the open-air parks easy, and Global Village is in season |
| April and May | Motiongate or Legoland at opening; IMG Worlds after midday | Warm by midday, so do the outdoor parks in the morning only |
| June to September | IMG Worlds, Ski Dubai, a water park | Indoor or water: the heat is the reason to choose them |
| October | IMG Worlds, or Motiongate at opening | Still warm; Global Village usually opens late in the month |
Seasonal dates for Global Village change each year; check this season's dates.
If the heat is the main worry, Dubai in summer lists the cool-air options, and the best water parks in Dubai ranks the parks where the heat works in your favour.
What a park day costs and what is extra
The ticket is only part of the bill. Food and drink inside any big park cost more than outside, a taxi each way adds up, and the add-ons are where a family budget drifts. Nothing here is compulsory, but it is worth knowing before the gate.
- Fast-track passes cost more again, and only pay on weekends and school holidays.
- Child tickets are set by age and height, and children under a certain age enter free; check the limit on the official site.
- Passes that cover more than one park at Dubai Parks and Resorts exist, so ask if you are staying two or three days.
- Lockers, photo packages and arcade games are extras.
- Bring a refillable bottle, a hat and sunscreen even indoors: the walk from the car to the gate is in the open.
- Opening days change with the season, and not every park opens every day, so book a fixed date only after you have checked the calendar.
How to run a park day without wearing the family out
Arrive at opening and do the biggest rides first. The queues are shortest in the first two hours, the air is coolest, and children have the most patience. Keep the shows, the gentle zones and the indoor attractions for the middle of the day, when the sun is highest and energy drops.
Eat before the lunch rush or after it, agree a meeting point in case anyone gets separated, and take a break out of the crowds every two to three hours. Wear shoes that can take a lot of walking, and carry a charged phone with the booking on it.
A weekday is almost always calmer than a weekend, and school holidays push every park to its busiest. If your dates are fixed, fast-track is the way to buy back time, and it is worth comparing the official site with the gate price before you pay.
When to skip the parks altogether
A theme park is an expensive way to spend one of your only days in Dubai. On a first visit of three or four days, with no children, the desert, the Burj Khalifa and the sea give more for the money, and our 3-day itinerary fills the time without one.
With children under 5 the answer flips: a park is the thing that makes the trip work for them, and Legoland Dubai or the Motiongate toddler zones are worth a day. Honest advice: pick one park, not three, and book the date for the weekday. For the full family picture, see best things to do in Dubai with kids and the baby and toddler guide.
The Yas Island parks: a day trip, not an add-on
Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld and Yas Waterworld are all on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, about 1.5-2 hours' drive from Dubai each way. That is a long day. Read our guides to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and Yas Waterworld to choose one, and plan it as a dedicated trip.
Our Abu Dhabi city tour, from $45 per person for the shared tour, takes in Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the BAPS Mandir and Heritage Village, with a photo stop at Ferrari World and lunch at Yas Mall. It does not include park entry, so it suits families who want Abu Dhabi's sights and a look at the Ferrari roof, not a day on the rides.
Balance a park day with a desert evening
Park days are all walking and queuing, so give the next day something slower. The full-day desert safari, from $45 per person, collects you from the hotel and covers dune bashing, sandboarding, a camel ride, a BBQ buffet and a fire show in an air-conditioned camp, paid on the day. It is not recommended for infants under 3 or for pregnant women.
An easier choice with small children is the shared Marina yacht, one hour from $32 per person, with children welcome under adult supervision. Our desert safari with kids guide explains which ages enjoy which part of the evening.
FAQ
What is the best theme park in Dubai?
IMG Worlds of Adventure for summer, rain and teenagers; Motiongate for children aged 3-12 from November to March; Legoland Dubai for under-10s. Each needs one full day, roughly 6-8 hours, and a few hundred dirhams per adult for a one-day ticket, so book one park per day and compare prices on the official sites.
Which Dubai theme park is best for toddlers?
Legoland Dubai, built for ages 2-12, or Motiongate's Smurfs Village and DreamWorks zones. IMG Worlds is aimed at older children. Under 3, expect most rides to be out of reach, so keep the visit short.
Which Dubai theme park is best in summer?
IMG Worlds of Adventure, because it is fully indoors and air-conditioned. Ski Dubai and the water parks also work from June to September, when afternoon highs reach about 40°C.
Can I visit two theme parks in one day?
Not in practice. IMG Worlds and Motiongate are on opposite sides of Dubai, 25-50 minutes apart by taxi from the city centre, and each is a full day. Motiongate and Legoland share a complex, but one park a day is the sensible limit.
Are the Dubai theme parks open every day?
Opening days and hours change with the season, and the Dubai Parks and Resorts parks do not always open every day, so check the official calendar before you book a date.
Is there a theme park near the Metro?
Ski Dubai is the closest to a Metro station, next to Mall of the Emirates on the Red Line. IMG Worlds, Motiongate and Legoland are not on the Metro, so plan a taxi or a ride-hailing car.
