IMG Worlds of Adventure is Dubai's big indoor, air-conditioned theme park: 22 rides and attractions in six zones, general admission AED 365 with VAT, and a full day of five to seven hours. The Marvel, Lost Valley and Cartoon Network zones carry the rides, and the big coasters want a child of 1.25 m or more. This guide covers the zones, ride heights, tickets, hours, food rules, how to get there without the Metro and how to pair it with a desert safari.

Five other plans for a family day
#1
Motiongate at Dubai Parks and Resorts
Motiongate is the main alternative: a mix of indoor and outdoor zones built around DreamWorks, Lionsgate and Smurfs characters. IMG is better in July and August because it is fully indoors; Motiongate is better in the cooler months. Our IMG Worlds vs Motiongate guide compares them.
#2
Legoland Dubai for under-twelves
If your children are small, Legoland is built for ages 2 to 12 and has many rides from 80 cm. IMG's big rides want 1.2 to 1.4 m. The Legoland Dubai guide has the height list and tickets.
#3
Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates
Another indoor option, with snow, a slope and a short Metro ride from Downtown or the Marina. It suits a half day rather than a full one, so it pairs with shopping better than with a theme-park schedule. See the Ski Dubai guide.
#4
Dubai Aquarium in The Dubai Mall
The aquarium's huge viewing panel can be seen from the mall, while the full aquarium and zoo need a ticket. It is the easy indoor plan if your hotel is Downtown. See the Dubai Aquarium guide.
#5
Global Village in season
Global Village is a seasonal outdoor park of pavilions, food and rides. Khaleej Times reported its season opening on 14 October, with tickets of AED 25 on weekdays and AED 30 at weekends, as of 29 October. Our Global Village guide covers the season.
IMG Worlds of Adventure in one minute
IMG Worlds of Adventure is an indoor, air-conditioned theme park in Dubailand with 22 rides and attractions in six zones. The park bills itself as Dubai's largest indoor theme park. General admission is AED 365 including VAT, and a family with children of different heights should plan a full day of five to seven hours. The zones are Marvel, Lost Valley (dinosaurs), Cartoon Network, IMG Boulevard, The Haunted Town and IMG Kids Zone.
It is the park to choose in June to September, when outdoor days are punishing. The honest limits: most big rides need a child of 1.2 to 1.4 m, there is no Metro, and outside food and drinks, including water bottles, are not allowed. If your children are under 1.2 m, Legoland fits them better. For the full landscape of Dubai's parks, see the best theme parks in Dubai.
The six zones and what is in each
The park is a loop of themed worlds, with IMG Boulevard in the middle as the street of shops and restaurants. The rides below come from the park's own zone pages.
| Zone | What is in it | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Marvel | Avengers Battle of Ultron, Hulk Epsilon Base 3D, Spider-Man Doc Ock's Revenge, Thor Thunder Spin, Avengers Flight of the Quinjets, character meet-ups | Superhero fans, older children and teenagers; the park estimates 2-3 hours here |
| Lost Valley | The Velociraptor coaster, Predator, The Forbidden Territory dinosaur ride (85 life-size animatronics), Dino Carousel, Adventure Fortress, Dinosaurium | Thrill-seekers and dinosaur fans of all ages |
| Cartoon Network | The Powerpuff Girls - Mojo Robot Rampage, Ben 10 5D Hero Time, Adventure Time ride, The Amazing Ride of Gumball, LazyTown | Younger children and families |
| IMG Boulevard | Boulevard Express train, restaurants, shops, arcade, carnival games, adventure photography | A break, lunch and souvenirs |
| The Haunted Town | The Haunted Hotel walk-through; guests aged 15 and over only | Teenagers and adults who like horror |
| IMG Kids Zone | An inflatable playground, paid separately | Under-tens who need to burn energy |
Rides and zones as listed on the park's website; check which rides are open on the day, as some close for maintenance.
Ride heights: who can go on what
Height decides the day more than anything else here. The numbers below are the minimums listed on the park's ride pages, with the lower figure shown where a child may ride with an adult.
| Ride | Minimum height | Note |
|---|---|---|
| The Velociraptor (coaster) | 1.30 m | Launches out of the dome into the open air |
| Predator | 1.25 m | A beyond-vertical drop |
| The Forbidden Territory | 1.30 m | Maximum 2.08 m |
| Avengers Battle of Ultron | 1.30 m | 1.05 m with an adult; maximum 2.08 m |
| Thor Thunder Spin | 1.40 m | Maximum 1.95 m; not for high blood pressure |
| Hulk Epsilon Base 3D | 1.00 m | Maximum 1.95 m |
| Spider-Man Doc Ock's Revenge | 1.20 m | 1.05 m with an adult |
| Avengers Flight of the Quinjets | 1.30 m | 1.05 m with an adult |
| The Powerpuff Girls - Mojo Robot Rampage | 1.35 m | 1.25 m with an adult |
| Adventure Time ride / Ben 10 5D | 1.30 m | Adventure Time: 1.05 m with an adult |
| The Amazing Ride of Gumball | 1.20 m | 1.05 m with an adult |
| LazyTown | 0.90 m | A play area |
| Dino Carousel | 1.05 m | |
| Dinosaurium | 0.90-1.25 m | A toddler play zone |
Taken from the park's ride pages; check the posted limit at the ride. Pregnant women and guests with recent surgery are not allowed on the rides.
Two practical notes. Anyone taller than 1.95 m is over the maximum for Hulk Epsilon Base 3D and Thor Thunder Spin. And a child at 1.10 m can do very little in Marvel and Cartoon Network without an adult, so decide before you go whether an adult will queue for each ride.
Who it suits, by age and height
Match the park to the shortest child in the group, and add a plan for them.
- Under 1.0 m: very little. Boulevard Express has no height limit, and the Kids Zone, Dinosaurium (0.90 m) and LazyTown (0.90 m) are the main places to go. Legoland suits this height better.
- 1.0 to 1.2 m: Hulk Epsilon Base 3D (1.00 m), Dino Carousel (1.05 m), and the rides where a child can go with an adult from 1.05 m.
- 1.2 to 1.4 m: the sweet spot: Spider-Man Doc Ock's Revenge, Gumball, Predator at 1.25 m, and most of the rest by 1.30 m.
- Teenagers and adults: Velociraptor, Predator, Thor Thunder Spin and the Haunted Hotel, plus a whole Marvel zone. Allow the time, because queues for the big rides are the main cost.
- Seniors and people of determination: the park lists 50 per cent off general admission at the park ticket counter; ask there.
Tickets, prices and opening hours
The park's ticket page lists the prices below, all including VAT. Check the page before you go, because promotions and event nights change the picture.
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| General park admission | AED 365 |
| IMG Kids Zone, one hour (general ticket needed) | AED 50 |
| IMG Kids Zone, full day (general ticket needed) | AED 100 |
| Annual membership pass | AED 765 |
| Seniors and people of determination | 50 per cent off general admission, at the park counter |
From the park's ticket page, VAT included. Seasonal night events such as Halloween have their own ticket.
The park lists opening hours of 12 PM to 10 PM Sunday to Thursday and 12 PM to 11 PM on Friday and Saturday, though hours can change with the season. Because it opens at midday, there is no benefit in leaving the hotel at 8 AM. Plan to arrive 20 to 30 minutes early so you are at the first rides when they open.
How long to stay and how to plan the day
Allow five to seven hours for a first visit. The park itself estimates 2 to 3 hours for the Marvel zone alone, which tells you how much of the day the main zones will use. The plan that works is to start with the biggest rides while the queues are shortest, then do Cartoon Network and Lost Valley, and break for a late lunch on IMG Boulevard when the dinosaur and Marvel queues have eased.
Outside food and drinks, including water bottles, are not allowed, and security staff remove them at the entrance. Eat and drink inside, and bring a light cardigan, because the dome is air-conditioned and feels cool after the car park. In July and August, the walk from the car to the entrance is the only hot part of the day.
If you are travelling with a baby or toddler, check IMG's current entry rules before you go. See Dubai with kids for how to pace a five-day family itinerary around a park day.
Getting there without the Metro
IMG Worlds is in the City of Arabia area of Dubailand, on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, at the exit after Global Village when you are heading north. No Metro station serves it, so the choices are a taxi, a hire car or an organised transfer.
By car it is roughly 30 minutes from Downtown and 40 to 45 from the Marina, longer at rush hour. A one-way taxi is the simplest option, and line up your return ride before you leave, because the park closes late. The guide to Global Village and Miracle Garden transport covers the same road in the season.
Global Village, according to Khaleej Times, opened Season 31 on 14 October and runs until about May, with tickets of AED 25 on weekdays and AED 30 at weekends as of 29 October. Its hours begin at 4 PM, so an IMG day that ends at 10 PM can be followed by an hour or two there, but that is a very long day for children.
Pair it with a day in the desert
IMG is a day indoors, and a desert safari is the opposite: an afternoon and evening outdoors. Put them on different days. Our full-day desert safari is from $45 per person, takes about 7 hours and collects you from your hotel in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman in an air-conditioned 4x4. The programme is a 30 to 45 minute dune bashing session on the Red Dunes, sandboarding, a camel ride, a BBQ buffet with vegetarian options and the camp shows. The quad bike upgrade is $65, and there is no prepayment: you agree the date on WhatsApp and pay on the day.
For children, note that it is not recommended for infants under 3, pregnant women or anyone with back or heart problems, and that dune bashing and a heavy meal do not mix. The desert safari with kids guide covers ages and bedtime. If you want a gentler water day on the same trip, the 1-hour shared yacht tour from $32 welcomes children under adult supervision. The best things to do with kids puts the pieces together.
FAQ
How much are IMG Worlds of Adventure tickets?
General park admission is AED 365 including VAT on the park's ticket page. The IMG Kids Zone is extra: AED 50 for one hour or AED 100 for the full day, and it needs a general ticket. Seniors and people of determination get 50 per cent off general admission at the park counter.
How long do you need at IMG Worlds?
Allow five to seven hours for a first visit. The park itself estimates 2 to 3 hours for the Marvel zone alone, so a family with children of mixed heights should plan the whole day.
Is IMG Worlds fully indoors?
Yes, it is an indoor, air-conditioned park, which is why it works in summer. The Velociraptor coaster launches out of the dome for part of the ride, and the walk from the car park is outdoors, so bring a light cardigan for the cool inside and sunscreen for the walk.
Is IMG Worlds good for toddlers?
Only a little. The Kids Zone, Dinosaurium (0.90 m), LazyTown (0.90 m) and Boulevard Express suit under-fives, but most rides need 1.2 to 1.4 m. For a child under 1 m, Legoland is the better choice.
Can I bring food and water?
No. Outside food and drinks, including water bottles, are not allowed, and security removes them at the entrance. There are restaurants and snack outlets inside, so eat and drink there.
How do I get to IMG Worlds without a car?
By taxi or an organised transfer, because no Metro station serves it. It is in the City of Arabia area on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, at the exit after Global Village when you are heading north. Check the return ride before you leave.
What age is the Haunted Hotel for?
The Haunted Town is for guests aged 15 and over. It is a walk-through with scares, so it is not for young children.
