Global Village is open from 4 PM to midnight or 1 AM, with entry at about AED 25-30, in a season that usually runs from mid-October to April or May. It is an open-air fair of country pavilions, street food, stage shows and a funfair in Dubailand, and the calmest nights are Sunday to Wednesday. Allow 4-5 hours, expect 25-35 minutes in a taxi from Downtown or the Marina, and check this season's dates before you plan around it.

Five ways to plan your Global Village evening
#1
Miracle Garden by day, Global Village after dark
The best single day in season. Dubai Miracle Garden is a daytime flower park, Global Village opens at 4 PM, and the taxi between them is short. Do the flowers from mid-morning, rest, then arrive for the golden hour and stay for dinner. Both are seasonal, so check the dates for each before you commit.
#2
After the Abu Dhabi day tour
Our Abu Dhabi city tour, from $45 per person with no prepayment, is about nine hours from an 8:00 AM hotel pickup, so you are normally back in the late afternoon. It is a long day, so go to Global Village only if everyone still has energy. Otherwise give the pavilions their own evening.
#3
Sunset on the water first
Our shared yacht tour in Dubai Marina is from $32 per person for one hour, with hourly departures and full prepayment. A late-afternoon slot gives you the skyline from the water, then a 25-35 minute taxi inland puts you among the pavilions as they fill. Allow time between the two, because the yacht leaves strictly on time.
#4
IMG Worlds on a hot afternoon
In October and April the afternoon can still be hot. IMG Worlds of Adventure is an indoor theme park in the same inland part of Dubai, so it can fill the afternoon before the pavilions open. It is a full day on its own, so choose it only if the children care more about rides than about the fair.
#5
A different night: the desert camp
If you like the idea of a food-and-shows evening but not the crowd, our full-day desert safari is from $45 per person, with dune bashing, sandboarding, a camel ride, a BBQ buffet and a fire show, pickup included and no prepayment. It clashes with Global Village on the same night, so do one or the other.
Global Village in one minute
Global Village is an evening fair, open from 4 PM to midnight or 1 AM, with entry at about AED 25-30. It is a large open-air site in Dubailand with country pavilions selling crafts, clothes and food, replica landmarks along the main promenade, stage shows and a funfair called Carnaval. The season usually runs from mid-October to April or May, and the site is closed in the summer.
It is cheap to enter, so the cost depends on you: food, rides and souvenirs are where the money goes. Most visitors stay 4-5 hours. It suits first-time visitors who want a lively, informal night, families with children who like walking and snacking, and groups who cannot agree on one cuisine. It does not suit anyone who wants quiet, a short evening or a sit-down meal in air conditioning. Dates, hours and ticket rules change each season, so check the official site for this one.
Season, hours and tickets
Global Village runs one season a year, usually from mid-October to April or May, and the exact dates move. The hours below are the usual pattern, and the ticket prices are the ones listed on the official site at the start of the season.
| Item | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Season | Usually mid-October to April or May; check this season's dates |
| Hours, Sunday-Wednesday | About 4 PM to midnight |
| Hours, Thursday-Saturday | About 4 PM to 1 AM |
| Weekday ticket | About AED 25, valid Monday to Thursday, not on public holidays |
| Any Day ticket | About AED 30, valid every day including public holidays |
| Free entry | Children under 3, seniors aged 65 and over, and people of determination with one companion (ID required) |
| Tuesdays | Reserved for ladies and families, except on public holidays |
| Rides | Carnaval rides are paid separately, in points, with a height limit on each ride |
Third-party prices, hours and rules change each season and during Ramadan; check the official site or app before you go.
Two practical points. First, the Tuesday rule matters for groups of men on their own, who may not be admitted that day. Second, public holidays and the last two weeks of December are the busiest of the season, so on those dates buy the Any Day ticket in advance and arrive close to 4 PM. Our Ramadan guide covers the shifted hours during the holy month.
What you will find: pavilions, food, shows and rides
The site works like a world fair that never ends. You walk a loop, and each stretch has a different mood.
- The pavilions: dozens of countries and regions, each with a small building or stand selling crafts, clothing, carpets, accessories and souvenirs. Some are excellent and some are plain shopping, so look in a few before you buy.
- The promenade and landmarks: replicas of well-known buildings line the main route and have included a Big Ben, a Leaning Tower of Pisa and a glass Burj Khalifa. They are for photographs, and they look best at golden hour and after dark.
- Street food: stalls and small restaurants from many countries, from savoury grills to sweets and fresh juices. Grazing across several stalls is the usual way to eat here.
- Stage shows and events: music, dance and performances, with a programme that changes through the season. Check the schedule on arrival, because the big shows and fireworks are set for particular days.
- Carnaval: the funfair, with rides for children and adults. Each ride has a height limit, from about 110 cm for the gentlest to 140 cm for the biggest, and rides are paid for separately in points.
Be honest with yourself about the shopping. Pavilion goods range from genuine crafts to mass-produced souvenirs. Compare two or three stalls before you buy anything large.
Which night to go
The same site feels very different on a quiet Monday and on a Friday night. If you can choose, go early in the evening on a weekday.
| Night | What it is like | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday, Monday, Wednesday | The calmest nights, with shorter queues for rides and food | Families with small children, anyone who dislikes crowds |
| Tuesday | Ladies and families only, often a calm, family atmosphere | Mothers with children, groups of women, couples |
| Thursday | Busier, open until 1 AM, the start of the weekend crowd | Visitors who want atmosphere and a late finish |
| Friday and Saturday | The busiest nights, with queues, full car parks and slow roads | Confident crowds, groups of friends, late-night snacking |
| Public holidays, late December | Very busy all evening | Skip unless you enjoy a crush |
Arrive close to 4 PM on any night for the calmest hour, and book your taxi home from the app well before closing.
How much to budget
Entry is about AED 25-30 per person, and the taxi from Downtown or the Marina is about AED 60-90 each way, so the transport is the biggest fixed cost for two people. Beyond that, the budget depends on how much you eat and ride. There are cheap snacks and sit-down meals at various prices, and each Carnaval ride costs points, so set a number for the children before you go through the gate.
Many stalls take cards, but a little cash helps at small stands. Bring a power bank, because maps, tickets and photographs drain a phone over four hours. If you can, split the evening: eat early, then walk, because the food areas fill up as the evening goes on.
How to get there
Global Village is in Dubailand, inland from the coast and away from the Metro. A taxi or ride-hailing car is the simplest way: about 25-35 minutes from Downtown or Dubai Marina, around AED 60-90 each way. The roads around the gates crawl on Friday and Saturday evenings, and the taxi rank can queue after closing, so book the return from the app while you finish dinner.
In season the RTA runs dedicated bus routes from Metro hubs; the numbers and times change each year, so check them in the S'hail app the day before. The full comparison of taxi, bus and Red Line routes is in Dubai to Global Village and Miracle Garden, and our taxi guide explains fares and ride-hailing.
Who should go, who should skip, and what to bring
Go if you want a casual, lively night, are travelling with children over about 3, or are on a first visit and want to see how the city spends an evening. Skip it if you dislike crowds, are visiting between May and October (it is closed), or only have one evening and would rather have a sunset on the water.
Wear comfortable shoes, because you will walk a lot on hard ground. Winter evenings are cool, so take a light layer from December to February. Pushchairs work but are slow in the crowds on weekends. Keep an eye on children near the funfair, agree a meeting point, and carry ID.
For the other options at night, see our guide to the best things to do in Dubai at night. If you are comparing the fair with the flower park, Global Village or Miracle Garden if you have one evening gives a clear answer, and the Miracle Garden guide covers the flowers.
Fitting it around our tours
Global Village is an evening place, and so are our best tours, so plan for different nights. The full-day desert safari is 7 hours from $45 per person ($65 with the 30-minute quad bike), with hotel pickup, dune bashing, a camel ride and a BBQ dinner at the camp. There is no prepayment. Take it on one evening and Global Village on another.
The Abu Dhabi city tour is from $45 per person and takes about 9 hours from an 8:00 AM pickup; the shared yacht tour is from $32 per person for one hour and needs full prepayment. Either fits before an evening at the pavilions, but build in travel time. A one-day plan that mixes them is in our 3-day Dubai itinerary.
FAQ
When is Global Village open?
The season usually runs from mid-October to April or May. In season it opens at 4 PM and closes at midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and at 1 AM from Thursday to Saturday. The site is closed in summer, and the exact dates and hours change every year, so check the official site.
How much is Global Village entry?
About AED 25 for a Weekday ticket (Monday to Thursday, not on public holidays) and about AED 30 for an Any Day ticket. Children under 3, seniors aged 65 and over, and people of determination with one companion enter free. Carnaval rides cost extra, in points.
What is the best night to go to Global Village?
Sunday, Monday or Wednesday evening, arriving close to 4 PM, for the calmest crowd. Tuesday is reserved for ladies and families. Thursday to Saturday are busier and open to 1 AM, and public holidays and late December are the busiest.
How long do you need at Global Village?
Allow 4-5 hours if you eat there, walk the pavilions and try some rides. A quick look takes at least 2 hours, but most visitors stay longer because the food stalls and shows are the reason to go.
How do I get to Global Village from Downtown or Dubai Marina?
A taxi or Careem takes about 25-35 minutes and costs around AED 60-90 each way. There is no Metro station. In season the RTA runs bus routes from Metro hubs, and the numbers change every year, so check S'hail the day before. Book the return from the app.
Is Global Village good for children?
Yes for children from about 3 who enjoy walking, snacks and rides; under 3 go in free. The weakness is distance and crowds, so a pushchair helps but is slow at weekends. Go on a Sunday, Monday or Wednesday, set a points budget for the rides and agree a meeting point.
Can I combine Global Village with a desert safari on the same day?
Not in the same evening. Our full-day desert safari is 7 hours, from $45 per person, with the camp dinner and shows in the evening, so it clashes with the fair. Do the safari on one night and Global Village on another.
