Choose the Snow Park if you want to play in snow, and a slope pass only if you can already ski or snowboard. Passes run from about AED 150 to AED 260 depending on type and date, and sessions are usually about two hours. Ski Dubai sits inside Mall of the Emirates, a short covered walk from the Metro station, with the air just below freezing all year. This guide covers passes, clothing, penguins, age rules and a snow-then-sea day with our shared yacht tour, from $32.

Five ways to build a day around the snow
#1
The snow, then Mall of the Emirates
Ski Dubai is inside the mall, so lunch, shops and the Metro are all under one roof. It is the simplest plan and the best one in the heat of July and August, when the mall's air conditioning feels almost warm after the snow. Our Mall of the Emirates guide covers what else is inside.
#2
The snow, then lunch at Souk Madinat Jumeirah
The Jumeirah coast has no Metro station of its own, so the practical route is the Red Line to Mall of the Emirates and a short taxi. Souk Madinat Jumeirah has waterside terraces, wooden footbridges and the Burj Al Arab rising behind them, which makes a gentle lunch after a cold morning.
#3
The snow, then Kite Beach at sunset
A public beach where kitesurfers fill the sky in the late afternoon, with the Burj Al Arab on the horizon. It works best from November to March, when the evening is mild. In summer the sand is too hot for a walk before sunset. Take a taxi from the mall and plan to be back before dark.
#4
The snow, then a Marina sunset on the water
Ride the Red Line from Mall of the Emirates towards the Marina and take our shared yacht hour, from $32 per person. It leaves hourly from the pier behind Al Majara Tower, so a late-afternoon snow session and a sunset sail fit in one day. Full prepayment secures the slot.
#5
The snow, then the Burj Khalifa
Snow in the morning, a Burj Khalifa slot an hour before sunset. Levels 124 and 125 start from $55 with no time limit, so one ticket covers day, dusk and the lit city. Prime-time slots cost more, and we confirm the price for your slot on WhatsApp before you pay.
Ski Dubai tickets: the short answer
Most visitors want the Snow Park; a slope pass is for people who already ski or snowboard. The Snow Park is snow play: slides, sledging runs and room for snowball fights. The slope is a ski run of about 400 m with a lift back to the top. Passes are timed, usually two hours, and a full-day option is sold too.
Prices change with the pass type, the date and where you buy. As a guide, expect roughly AED 150-250 for a Snow Park session and AED 210-260 for two hours on the slope, and check the Ski Dubai site before you pay. Penguin Encounters are a separate ticket.
The honest verdict: it is a well-run novelty rather than a ski holiday. It is worth it with children and as a break from 40°C, and it is a poor use of a mild winter beach day. If you already ski, the slope is short.
Snow Park or Ski Slope: which pass?
The two passes are for different people. Most families should start with the Snow Park.
| Snow Park | Ski Slope | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Families, children, first-timers, anyone who wants to touch snow | People who can already ski or snowboard, or are taking a lesson |
| What you do | Slides, sledging, snowballs, playing in the snow | Runs on a slope of about 400 m, with a lift back up |
| Session | Usually 2 hours; a full-day option is sold separately | Usually 2 hours; a full-day pass is sold too |
| Typical price | Roughly AED 150-250 | Roughly AED 210-260 for 2 hours |
| Clothing | Jacket, trousers and boots are lent | Jacket and trousers are lent; ask whether skis or a board and boots are included |
| Skip it if | Your children are babies | You expect real mountain terrain |
Prices are rounded from ticket sellers and change by date and pass type; check the Ski Dubai site before you buy.
What is included and what to wear
Your pass includes the loan of a snow jacket, trousers and boots. Confirm when you book whether gloves and socks are included too. Inside, the air is just below freezing, a degree or two under zero, all year, so you stay warm in the lent kit; hands and faces feel the cold first.
Dress in layers under the loan kit, as you would for any cold day:
- Leggings or thin trousers and a long-sleeved top underneath, not shorts.
- Long socks that cover the shins, so boots do not rub.
- Gloves, if the pass does not include them, and a hat for children.
- A change of dry clothes, because snow melts into everything.
- A zipped pocket for your phone: batteries drain faster in the cold.
- Travel light; you will not want a bag on the slope.
Arrive early. Collecting and fitting the kit takes time, and a late start can eat into your session. Ask at the desk where the lockers and changing rooms are before you go in, and keep the dry clothes there.
Penguins, lessons and add-ons
Ski Dubai keeps a colony of penguins, king and gentoo, and sells Penguin Encounter sessions as their own ticket with set times. Book ahead on weekends and school holidays, and ask the desk what the session includes before you pay.
Beginners on the slope usually start with a lesson, offered through Ski Dubai's ski school. Ask when you book whether the lesson, the equipment and the lift are in the price. If you have never been on snow, a Snow Park pass is cheaper and less stressful than learning on the slope.
Age rules, safety and who should skip it
Minimum ages depend on the pass and are set by Ski Dubai, so we do not quote a number. Young children can join on some Snow Park passes with an adult, while slope passes are meant for older children and adults who can ski or board. Confirm the age and supervision rules when you book.
Babies do not belong in air below freezing, and neither does anyone who cannot cope with the cold. If you are pregnant or have a heart, breathing or circulation condition, ask your doctor and Ski Dubai before you buy a ticket. You may be asked to sign a waiver on the slope.
Who is it for? Families whose children have never seen snow, groups who want something to do when the outdoors is too hot, and anyone caught by a rainy day. Who should skip it? Visitors on a short trip with perfect beach weather, and skiers hoping for long runs.
How long to allow, and when to go
Allow about three hours in all: a two-hour session, plus 30-45 minutes for kit, queues and changing. Add time for the mall afterwards. Ski Dubai opens from about 10 AM and runs into the evening, later at weekends; check the hours for your day.
Weekday mornings and early afternoons are calmer. Weekends and school holidays are busy, and timed passes can sell out, so book a day or two ahead in those periods. It is a summer or rainy-day plan: from November to March the outdoors is the better use of a day, and our Dubai in summer guide lists the other cool-air options.
Getting to Ski Dubai: Mall of the Emirates by Metro
Ski Dubai is inside Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha. Take the Red Line to Mall of the Emirates station, a short covered walk from the mall; it is halfway between Downtown and the Marina. Our Metro guide covers cards and fares, and the Al Barsha area guide is useful if you are choosing a hotel near the mall.
To compare the mall with the biggest one in Downtown, read Dubai Mall or Mall of the Emirates and the Mall of the Emirates guide.
A day around the snow: snow, then sea
Mall of the Emirates is an easy base for a mixed day. The Red Line runs on to DMCC station for Dubai Marina, where our shared yacht tour leaves hourly from the marina pier (Level P, Al Majara Tower). It costs from $32 per person, check-in is 20 minutes before departure, the yacht leaves strictly on time, and full prepayment secures your slot. Children are welcome under adult supervision. For the best light see our sunset cruise guide.
For Downtown, take the Red Line the other way to a Burj Khalifa ticket, from $55 per person: a slot about an hour before sunset covers day, dusk and the lit city. If you want sand after snow on another day, the full-day desert safari is from $45 per person with hotel pickup and no prepayment. Travelling with small children? Our guide to Dubai with a baby or toddler and the family itinerary have the age rules for everything else.
FAQ
How much are Ski Dubai tickets?
Roughly AED 150-250 for a Snow Park session and AED 210-260 for two hours on the slope, depending on the pass, the date and where you buy. Penguin Encounters are a separate ticket. Prices change, so check the Ski Dubai site before you pay.
Is Ski Dubai worth it?
Yes for children and for a break from the summer heat; the Snow Park is the better value for most visitors. It is less convincing for experienced skiers, because the slope is only about 400 m long, and it is a poor use of a mild winter beach day.
What should I wear to Ski Dubai?
The pass lends a jacket, trousers and boots. Wear leggings or thin trousers and a long-sleeved top underneath, long socks, and gloves if they are not included. Bring a change of dry clothes.
How cold is Ski Dubai?
Just below freezing, a degree or two under zero, all year. You are warm in the lent kit, but hands and faces feel it, so bring gloves and a hat for children.
How long is a Ski Dubai session?
Usually two hours, with a full-day option for the Snow Park and the slope. Allow about three hours in all for kit, queues and changing, and more if you plan to eat at the mall afterwards.
What age can children go to Ski Dubai?
It depends on the pass. Some Snow Park passes admit young children with an adult, while the slope is for older children and adults who can ski or snowboard. Ski Dubai sets the minimum ages, so confirm them when you book.
How do I get to Ski Dubai by Metro?
Take the Red Line to Mall of the Emirates station, a short covered walk from the mall. Ski Dubai is inside the mall. The station is halfway between Downtown and Dubai Marina, so from either it is a single Red Line ride.
