How much is Yas Waterworld?

The park lists a single-day adult ticket at about AED 295 online, with gate prices of about AED 305-325 depending on the season. Junior tickets are priced by height, with a lower price below 1.1 m, and very young children are free. Check the official site for the price on your date.

Yas Waterworld plus the rest of Yas Island: five pairings

Ferrari World, a few minutes away #1
Yas Island; indoor, air-conditioned, a separate ticket A second day, or a dry second park

Ferrari World, a few minutes away

Ferrari World is the indoor counterpart to the waterpark: the same operator, the same island and the opposite weather plan. The parks sell a one-day ticket for any two Yas parks, but each is a day on its own for most families. If you do both in one day, put the waterpark first, while you are fresh, and treat the second park as a bonus.

Yas Mall for lunch and a dry change #2
Yas Island; shops and food under air conditioning A proper meal and a rest after the sun

Yas Mall for lunch and a dry change

Yas Mall is the practical stop on the island: a wide choice of food, shops for the sunscreen or swimsuit you forgot, and a cool place to dry off before the drive home. It links to Ferrari World rather than to the waterpark, so plan a short hop on the island shuttle rather than a walk, and check the park's map.

Yas Marina Circuit #3
Yas Island; home of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Motorsport fans, and avoiding on race weekend

Yas Marina Circuit

The circuit hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in early December, and the whole island fills with visitors and traffic that week. Outside race season it is a landmark you drive past, not a destination for most families. If your dates cover race weekend, book early and expect slower roads on the E11 in both directions.

SeaWorld, the cool indoor day #4
Yas Island; indoor, a separate ticket Small children, hot months, a calmer second day

SeaWorld, the cool indoor day

SeaWorld is the better choice for the heat of July and August and for children too small for the slides. Many families use the waterpark in the cooler months and SeaWorld in the hot ones, so the two do not compete for the same week. Our SeaWorld guide has the realms, ages and the free shuttle.

The Corniche on another day #5
Abu Dhabi city, a drive from Yas Island A free, cool evening away from the parks

The Corniche on another day

If you have a second day in Abu Dhabi, the Corniche promenade and the city centre are the free alternative to another ticket. They are also what our shared city tour covers on a nine-hour day from Dubai, together with the Grand Mosque and the BAPS Mandir.

Yas Waterworld in one minute

An outdoor waterpark with more than 60 rides and slides, themed on a pearl-diving legend. The story is the Legend of the Lost Pearl, with a young pearl diver called Dana, and the park is built around a rocky mountain topped with a pearl. The park's own count has grown past 70 rides and attractions as it adds slides, so treat the number as a range. It is aimed at the whole family, from a lazy river with no minimum height to some of the steepest drops in the region.

Who it suits: swimmers, families with children above about 110-120 cm and teenagers. Smaller children have a good day too, because at least 10 of the attractions suit children up to 1.2 m by the park's count. Who should skip it: anyone coming in July or August for a long afternoon, when an outdoor park is hard work, and those who do not like queues at weekends.

Numbers to plan with: a single-day ticket is from about AED 295 online; allow 5-7 hours; from Dubai it is about 1.5 hours each way by road. Check the opening days and hours for your date on the park's site, since they vary by season and the park posts ride updates. Everything below comes from the park's official pages, and heights and prices change, so confirm before you travel.

Rides and height rules

Height decides the day, not age. The park applies minimum heights to most rides and slides, posts them at each ride, and prices junior tickets by height, with a lower price below 1.1 m. These are the ones people ask about, with the minimums the park lists:

RideWhat it isMinimum height
Al Raha RiverA gentle lazy river winding through the park; float on a tubeNo minimum
Bandit BomberThe Middle East's longest suspended roller coaster, ending in a water-cannon battle at Cannon Point100 cm
Falcon's FalajA 300-metre six-seater water coaster, billed as the longest of its kind110 cm
SebagA six-lane speed slide for racing110 cm
Slither's SlidesSix snake-themed slides with sharp turns and water curtains110 cm
CinesplashA 5D water cinema with seats that move and splashes110 cm
Hamlool's HumpsA bumpy speed slide with airtime, named after the camel in the story120 cm
Liwa LoopA fast free-fall drop slide with a loop120 cm
Jebel DropThe tallest vertical drop slide in Abu Dhabi, with panoramic views of the park120 cm

Minimum heights as listed on the park's ride pages; they can change and are enforced at the ride.

Other big names on the park's own list are Dawwama, a six-person tornado water coaster, and Bubbles Barrel, a surfable wave. Check their limits on the park's ride pages. For smaller children, the park's own list for those up to 1.2 m includes Bandit Bomber, Falcon's Falaj, Sebag, Slither's Slides, Cinesplash and the lazy river.

Dress code, lockers and what to bring

Yas Waterworld has a real dress code, and it catches visitors out. Swimwear must be worn on the rides and slides, and the park lists what is not allowed on water attractions:

  • Not allowed on slides: street clothes, denim shorts, loose or flowing garments, underwear and clothing with exposed metal.
  • Modesty: swimwear that the park considers overly revealing is not permitted, and the management decides on the day.
  • Lockers and towels: nearly 2,500 wristband-activated lockers; towels can be rented from guest services or bought in the shops. Larger bags can be stored at the Qaryat Al Jewana Souk for a fee.
  • Cabanas: private cabanas for 4 or 6 guests can be booked on the park's website, which is worth it if you have grandparents or babies who need shade.
  • Babies: baby-changing facilities are located throughout the park, and swim diapers are sold in the shops.
  • Sun: bring high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, sandals you can walk in on hot concrete and a change of dry clothes for the drive home.

Tickets and prices

The park's site lists an online price of about AED 295 for a single-day ticket, and gate prices of about AED 305-325 depending on whether the day is low, medium or peak season. Booking online saves up to about 10% on the gate price. These figures change, so check the date you want.

When to go: season, time of day and race weekend

This is an outdoor park, so the calendar matters more here than at any of the other three Yas parks. The Abu Dhabi weather is similar to Dubai's and slightly hotter, and the table gives the honest version.

MonthsOutsideVerdict
November, March, AprilWarm to hot days, long sunshineThe best time: water feels good and the heat is manageable
December to FebruaryMild days, cooler mornings and eveningsPleasant, but you will feel cool when wet in the shade or wind
May, September, OctoberVery hotGo at opening, seek shade at midday and leave by mid-afternoon
June, July and AugustThe hottest of the yearPossible, but SeaWorld or Warner Bros. World is the better choice

General seasonal pattern; check the forecast for your dates.

Arrive at opening, because the queues for the biggest slides are shortest in the first two hours. Weekends and school holidays are busy. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix week in early December fills the island with visitors and traffic; our Grand Prix guide has the dates, and the safest plan is to avoid the park that weekend unless you came for the race.

Getting there from Dubai, and combining it with Yas Island

The park says it is about 50 minutes from Dubai; allow about 1.5 hours from Dubai Marina. The Yas Express runs free shuttle buses from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah for guests with an e-ticket, and the park's pages say to be at the stop 5 minutes before the bus arrives. A taxi or Careem is about AED 250-350 each way. The Etihad Rail train from Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai takes about an hour and a free Yas Express shuttle links the Abu Dhabi station to Yas Island, but you need a taxi to the Dubai station. Parking is free, though the park has moved guest parking to a temporary car park, with buggies to the entrance, so follow the signs.

The plan that works is one park per day. Yas Island's official site lists Yas Bay, Yas Marina, Yas Mall, Yas Beach and the fountains for the evening, and you can stay on the island if you want a second park day: the hotels are minutes from the gates. For a single day from Dubai, finish by about 3:30-4:00 PM so you are on the road before the evening traffic. The island picture, with hotel options and the transport arithmetic, is in Yas Island from Dubai, and SeaWorld, Warner Bros. World and Ferrari World each have their own guide.

Where our Abu Dhabi tour fits, and water days in Dubai

Our Abu Dhabi city tour from $45 per person is a different day: the Grand Mosque, the BAPS Mandir, the Corniche, Heritage Village, a Ferrari World photo stop and lunch at Yas Mall, nine hours in all with 8:00 AM hotel pickup. It does not include Yas Waterworld, and the loop has no time for a waterpark. If a waterpark is the point, go on your own with the shuttle and keep the city for another day.

If you are staying in Dubai and want water rather than a day trip, our Jumeirah water sports start from the same harbour: the tubing donut ride is $149 per ride for up to 4 riders aged 12 and over, and the jet ski ride to the Burj Al Arab is from $79 per jet ski. The water sports in Dubai guide compares them, and best water parks in Dubai covers the waterparks on the Dubai side.

FAQ

How much is Yas Waterworld?

The park lists a single-day adult ticket at about AED 295 online, with gate prices of about AED 305-325 depending on the season. Junior tickets are priced by height, with a lower price below 1.1 m, and very young children are free. Check the official site for the price on your date.

What are the height rules at Yas Waterworld?

Most rides need 100-120 cm. Bandit Bomber starts at 100 cm, Falcon's Falaj, Sebag and Slither's Slides at 110 cm, and Hamlool's Humps, Liwa Loop and Jebel Drop at 120 cm. The lazy river has no minimum, and at least 10 rides suit children up to 1.2 m.

What is the best time of year for Yas Waterworld?

November, March and April, when it is warm but not harsh. December to February is mild, and you may feel cool when wet. May to September is very hot, so go at opening and leave by mid-afternoon, or choose an indoor park such as SeaWorld.

What can you not wear at Yas Waterworld?

The park does not allow street clothes, denim shorts, loose or flowing garments, underwear or clothing with exposed metal on the water attractions. Swimwear that is considered overly revealing is not permitted either, so pack proper swimwear rather than shorts.

How long do you need at Yas Waterworld?

Allow 5-7 hours, which is enough for the main slides if you arrive at opening. In summer, many families leave after 3-4 hours, when the heat builds. Add about 3 hours of road time from Dubai, or use the free shuttle.

Can you go from Dubai to Yas Waterworld without a car?

Yes. The free Yas Express shuttle runs from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah for guests with an e-ticket. A taxi is about AED 250-350 each way, and the Etihad Rail train plus the free shuttle from the Abu Dhabi station is another option.

Can you do Yas Waterworld and another Yas park in one day?

The parks sell a one-day ticket for any two Yas parks, so it is allowed. In practice each is a full day, so we would not plan it with children. Pick one park per day and use the evening for Yas Mall or the marina.

Does the Abu Dhabi city tour include Yas Waterworld?

No. The $45 shared tour covers the Grand Mosque, the BAPS Mandir, the Corniche, Heritage Village, a Ferrari World photo stop and lunch at Yas Mall. Park tickets are not included, and a waterpark needs a day of its own.
