Abu Dhabi City Tour from Dubai — From $45 per person

Yas Island is the entertainment island on the Dubai side of Abu Dhabi, about 1.5 hours down the E11 from Dubai Marina: Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld, plus Yas Mall and the Yas Marina Circuit. A day trip from Dubai fits one park, or the island as a stop on a capital day; it does not fit two parks, and never a park plus the Grand Mosque. Our Abu Dhabi city tour includes the Ferrari World photo op and lunch at Yas Mall inside a 9-hour day for $45; a park is a separate day. Here is what fits where.

Can you visit Yas Island as a day trip from Dubai?

Yes. Yas Island is about 1.5 hours from Dubai Marina by car and about AED 250-350 each way by taxi, so one theme park makes a comfortable day trip with an 8:00 AM start. Two parks in one day do not work, and neither does a park plus the Grand Mosque. Our $45 Abu Dhabi tour includes the Ferrari World photo op and lunch at Yas Mall, not park entry.

What is on Yas Island, ranked for a visitor from Dubai

Ferrari World #1
Indoor, open all year Teens, thrill seekers, car fans

Ferrari World

The red-roofed indoor park is Yas Island's signature and the home of Formula Rossa, the fastest roller coaster in the world, alongside family rides, simulators and a great deal of Ferrari red. Being indoors it works in summer. Our Abu Dhabi day includes a photo stop outside, not a ticket; the park itself is a full day of its own.

Yas Waterworld #2
Outdoor, Emirati-themed Families, November to April

Yas Waterworld

An outdoor waterpark built around a pearl-diving legend, with slides for every age from toddler pools to the Bandit Bomber coaster over the lagoons. Outdoor means the season matters: it is superb from November to March and punishing in July. It shares a day with nothing else; arrive at opening, leave when the children fold.

SeaWorld Yas Island #3
Indoor marine park Younger children, the hot months

SeaWorld Yas Island

An indoor marine-life park arranged as ocean realms, with flamingos on a sandy lagoon, rays and the big aquarium windows children stand in front of for longer than you expect. Indoor and calm, it is the Yas park for younger families and for summer. Like the others it needs most of a day, and it is not part of any city tour.

Yas Mall #4
Next to Ferrari World Lunch, toilets, air conditioning

Yas Mall

The island's mall, linked to Ferrari World and the practical centre of any visit: a wide choice of international and local food, toilets, air conditioning and shops for the sunscreen you forgot. It is the lunch stop on our Abu Dhabi tour, and the fallback on a park day when the heat or the queues win.

Yas Marina Circuit #5
The Formula 1 track Race weekend, or a drive-by

Yas Marina Circuit

The circuit that hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with the marina and a hotel wrapped around its corners. Outside race season it is a landmark you drive past rather than a destination for most visitors from Dubai; on race weekend the whole island fills, hotels included, and you allow extra time on the E11 in both directions.

What fits in a day trip from Dubai, in one paragraph

One park, or the island as a stop on a capital day. Yas Island is about 1.5 hours from Dubai Marina by car, so a park day is roughly 3 hours on the road for 6-8 hours inside, which works; two parks in a day do not, because each one is a full day and they close in the evening. The Grand Mosque plus a park is the classic mistake: the mosque deserves the morning, and by the time you reach Yas the park has been open for hours and the queues are at their longest.

The sensible split is two days. Day one is the capital: our Abu Dhabi city tour with the mosque first, the BAPS Mandir, the Corniche and Emirates Palace, Heritage Village, then the Ferrari World photo op and lunch at Yas Mall, back in Dubai by late afternoon, $45 per person with no prepayment. Day two, if a park is the point, is a taxi straight to Yas for opening time and nothing else on the schedule. Below is each park by who it suits, what to budget, and the transport arithmetic.

The four parks compared

Ferrari World is the one people know: Formula Rossa, the fastest roller coaster in the world, in a red-roofed indoor park that works in August. Warner Bros. World is the indoor park for younger children, themed around the studio's characters from Gotham City to Bedrock, with rides a six-year-old can actually go on. Yas Waterworld is outdoor, Emirati-themed and the best park in the cool months, when the water is the point rather than the shade. SeaWorld is the newest, an indoor marine park built as a series of ocean realms, calm and cool and aimed at families with small children.

Ticket prices change by date and are cheapest online; budget from around AED 300 per adult per park and check the official site before you go.

Prices are the one thing we will not put a hard number on. The parks price by date, sell single-park and multi-park tickets and discount online, so the figure you see today is not the figure on your date. As a planning number, budget from around AED 300 per adult per park and confirm on the official site; multi-park bundles only pay off if you are staying on the island for two or three nights and doing a park a day.

Two more checks before you buy. Every park applies height limits on its bigger rides, so read the ride list on the official site against your children's heights, because two siblings a head apart can have very different days at Ferrari World. And look at the calendar: school holidays, Eid and the last two weeks of December fill the parks and the E11 alike.

Yas as a stop on the Abu Dhabi day: what you actually get

On the shared tour, Yas Island is a photo stop under Ferrari World's red roof and a lunch stop at Yas Mall, placed after Heritage Village and before the Dates Market. It is deliberately a sampler: your children see the building, everyone eats in air conditioning, and you know whether the island deserves its own day. Entry tickets are not included, and there is no time inside a park on a 9-hour loop that also covers the mosque and the Mandir.

The private car for up to 7 at $245 changes the arithmetic. The schedule is flexible, so a family can shorten the Corniche and Heritage Village legs and take a longer Yas stop, or drop the Dates Market and stay into the early evening. What it still cannot do is fit a full park day and the mosque into one day, and we will say so on WhatsApp rather than sell you a plan that fails at 2 PM. The full loop with timings is in Abu Dhabi in one day from Dubai, and the family version in Abu Dhabi with kids.

In practice the stop is simple: the vehicle pulls up by Ferrari World, you take the photo under the red roof, and the group walks into Yas Mall for lunch at its own table and its own pace, long enough for a proper meal and a look at the shops, before the Dates Market and the drive back to Dubai. Lunch itself is optional and paid on the spot; bottled water is included throughout the day.

Getting to Yas Island from Dubai on your own

A taxi is the honest default for a park day: about 1.5 hours and about AED 250-350 each way from Dubai, so around AED 500-700 for the round trip, split between however many of you fit in the car. The intercity buses are far cheaper at about AED 25 with a Nol card, but E100 from Al Ghubaiba and E101 from Ibn Battuta run to Abu Dhabi Central bus station, not to Yas, and the onward taxi plus the change of vehicle turns a 1.5-hour drive into about 3 hours. Full route detail is in how to get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

Timing: leave Dubai by 8:00 AM to be at a park gate near opening, and avoid the 5-8 PM rush back into Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road on weekdays by leaving Yas either before 4 PM or after dinner. In the hot months treat Yas Waterworld as a November-to-April plan and the indoor parks as the summer answer. Opening hours vary by season and day, so check each park's official site for your date before you commit to a taxi.

A park day from Dubai, hour by hour

This is the plan that works for a family based in Dubai Marina or Downtown who want one park and a sane evening. Times are approximate and assume a weekday outside school holidays.

  • 7:30 AM: taxi from the hotel with breakfast eaten; the E11 is clear before the Dubai rush builds.
  • About 9:00 AM: arrive on Yas, at the gate for opening; the first two hours are the shortest queues of the day.
  • Midday: lunch inside the park or, for Ferrari World, next door at Yas Mall, which is cooler and cheaper.
  • Early afternoon: the rides you skipped, or for Yas Waterworld the lazy stretches once the children slow down.
  • About 3:30-4 PM: leave, ahead of the evening traffic into Dubai; back at the hotel by about 5:30 PM.
  • Evening: nothing booked. A park day and a 9 PM boat do not mix; keep the Marina for another night.

If you have the private car for the day, the same plan can swap the afternoon for the Corniche and the Dates Market, but not for the mosque, which belongs to the morning.

Book the return taxi before you go in, or make sure your app works with a UAE number, because the taxi rank outside a park at closing time is the slowest queue of the day.

Who should stay on Yas Island, and who should stay in Dubai

Stay on Yas if your trip is built around two or more park days: the hotels are minutes from the gates, a park a day at an easy pace beats one exhausting day trip, and the circuit and the mall fill the evenings. It is a resort island, not a city; expect quiet nights and taxis for everything else, including the 1.5-hour run back to Dubai. The wider question of which city to base yourself in is answered in Dubai vs Abu Dhabi as a base.

Stay in Dubai if Yas is one day of a week and the rest is the Burj, the Marina, the beaches and the desert. From a Dubai hotel the full-day desert safari collects you in a 4x4 and delivers the Lahbab dunes, the camel ride and the camp dinner from $45 with no prepayment; the 1-hour shared yacht cruise from the marina pier behind Al Majara Tower runs hourly from $32; and a private yacht for the family starts from AED 400 per hour with captain, crew, fuel and water included. Add Yas as the park day, Abu Dhabi as the capital day, and you have a week; the family version of the whole city is in best things to do in Dubai with kids.

FAQ

Can you visit Yas Island as a day trip from Dubai?

Yes. Yas Island is about 1.5 hours from Dubai Marina by car and about AED 250-350 each way by taxi, so one theme park makes a comfortable day trip with an 8:00 AM start. Two parks in one day do not work, and neither does a park plus the Grand Mosque. Our $45 Abu Dhabi tour includes the Ferrari World photo op and lunch at Yas Mall, not park entry.

Does the Abu Dhabi city tour include Ferrari World?

It includes a photo stop at Ferrari World and a lunch stop at Yas Mall, not an entry ticket. The 9-hour loop covers the Grand Mosque, the BAPS Mandir, the Corniche and Emirates Palace, Heritage Village, Yas and the Dates Market; a park needs a full day of its own. The private car for up to 7 at $245 can lengthen the Yas stop but still cannot add a park.

Which Yas Island park is best for young children?

Warner Bros. World for ages about 4-12, indoor and built around characters and gentler rides, and SeaWorld for the youngest, indoor and calm with the animals. Yas Waterworld suits families in the cooler months from November to April, with toddler pools as well as the big slides. Ferrari World is the teenage and adult thrill park, though it has family rides too.

How much do Yas Island theme park tickets cost?

Budget from around AED 300 per adult per park as a planning figure; the parks price by date, sell multi-park bundles and discount online, so check the official site for your date before you buy. Add about AED 500-700 for a return taxi from Dubai, split across the car, and food inside the park or at Yas Mall.

Can you do the Grand Mosque and Ferrari World in one day from Dubai?

Not properly. The mosque deserves the morning, before the heat and the crowds, and Ferrari World is a full day that has already been open for hours by the time you arrive from the mosque. Do the capital with our 9-hour tour, which includes the Ferrari World photo op, and give the park its own day with an early taxi from Dubai.

Is Yas Waterworld worth it in summer?

From May to September the days run 38-45°C, and an outdoor waterpark is hard work even with the water; check the official site for seasonal hours. The indoor parks, Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld, are the summer answer on Yas. Yas Waterworld is at its best from November to March, when 20-30°C days make a full day outside a pleasure.

How do I get from Dubai to Yas Island without a car?

A taxi or Careem is the practical answer: about 1.5 hours and about AED 250-350 each way, door to door. The intercity buses E100 and E101 cost about AED 25 with a Nol card but run to Abu Dhabi Central bus station, so add a taxi from there and about an hour to the journey. For the island as part of a capital day, our tour collects you at your Dubai hotel at 8:00 AM.
