What is the best water park in Dubai?

Aquaventure at Atlantis The Palm is the biggest and best for thrills. Wild Wadi, beside the Burj Al Arab, is the better choice for a shorter day, and Legoland Water Park is best for children under 10. Expect a few hundred dirhams per adult for a one-day ticket at the big two.

Five ways to get wet in Dubai, ranked

1. Aquaventure Waterpark, Atlantis The Palm #1
Palm Jumeirah, reached by taxi or the Palm Monorail Teenagers, thrill seekers, a full day with a beach

1. Aquaventure Waterpark, Atlantis The Palm

The biggest water park in Dubai, with the Ziggurat tower (the Tower of Neptune), the Leap of Faith drop slide, which finishes in a clear tunnel through a shark lagoon, a river ride, pools and a private beach. Splashers is the zone for small children. It is a full day, so go at opening, book a fixed date online and plan for a few hundred dirhams per adult.

2. Wild Wadi Waterpark, Jumeirah #2
Beside Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab Families wanting a mid-size park and a Burj Al Arab view

2. Wild Wadi Waterpark, Jumeirah

A smaller, older park below the Burj Al Arab, with the Master Blaster water coaster, Jumeirah Sceirah, Tantrum Alley and the Breaker's Bay wave pool. It is easier to cover in a day than Aquaventure, and the sail-shaped hotel is the backdrop for every photo. Many of its slides ask for a minimum height, so check the list before you leave the hotel.

3. Legoland Water Park, Dubai Parks and Resorts #3
Inside the Legoland Dubai complex, Jebel Ali side Children aged about 2-12 and their parents

3. Legoland Water Park, Dubai Parks and Resorts

The gentlest of the big three, built for the 2-12 age range, with shallow pools, lazy rivers and slides that small children can actually ride. Check whether to buy a combined ticket with Legoland Dubai, which shares the complex with Motiongate. It is the best pick for toddlers, and the worst for teenagers, who finish the slides in an hour.

4. Yas Waterworld, Abu Dhabi #4
Yas Island, about 1.5-2 hours' drive from Dubai A day trip for thrill seekers with a car or a tour

4. Yas Waterworld, Abu Dhabi

An Emirati pearl-diving theme, a rocky mountain with a white pearl on top, a roller coaster-style water ride called the Bandit Bomber and slides on every side. It is a serious park, but the drive from Dubai makes it a full day trip, so book it only if you want to spend Abu Dhabi time. Our guide covers rides and height rules.

5. Open water at Umm Suqeim instead #5
Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour, next to Jumeirah Beach Hotel Teenagers and adults who prefer the sea to slides

5. Open water at Umm Suqeim instead

The harbour is on the same stretch of Jumeirah coast as Wild Wadi, and from it a guided jet ski ride runs out to the Burj Al Arab from $79 per jet ski for 30 minutes, with up to two riders sharing. A donut tube ride from $149 for up to four riders aged 12 or over suits groups. It is not a water park, but it is the same sun, and the view is better.

The best water parks in Dubai: the short answer

Aquaventure at Atlantis The Palm is the best water park in Dubai for thrills, size and a beach on the same ticket. Wild Wadi, beside the Burj Al Arab, is the better choice for a shorter day on the Jumeirah coast, and Legoland Water Park is best for children under 10. All three stay open all year, though opening days and hours change, so check before you book.

Expect a few hundred dirhams per adult for a one-day ticket at either of the two big parks, with child rates set by height. Aquaventure is usually the dearer of the two. Prices change with the date, so compare the official sites, buy online for a fixed day and choose a weekday if you can.

Our detailed guides to Aquaventure and Wild Wadi go slide by slide, and Aquaventure or Wild Wadi helps if you can only choose one. La Mer covers Laguna and the beach around it.

Aquaventure: the biggest park, and a full day

Aquaventure is built around the Ziggurat, the Tower of Neptune, a stepped slide tower at the edge of the park. The headline slide is the Leap of Faith, a near-vertical drop that ends in a clear tunnel through a shark lagoon. The rest is a mix of slides, a river ride, pools and a private beach, so a day can hold both the adrenaline and a long rest.

Small children have Splashers, their own shallow play zone, so a mixed-age family can split up without losing anyone. Atlantis hotel guests normally have park access included, which makes it the obvious choice if you are staying on the Palm; everyone else buys a day ticket.

To get there, take a taxi or use the Palm Monorail, which runs from the Gateway station to Atlantis in about 15 minutes for roughly AED 20-30 return. Our Palm Jumeirah area guide explains the route and the rest of the island.

Wild Wadi: Burj Al Arab views and a shorter day

Wild Wadi sits next to Jumeirah Beach Hotel with the Burj Al Arab above it, which is the main reason to choose it. The Master Blaster water coaster pushes riders uphill with jets of water, Jumeirah Sceirah is one of the tallest slides, and Breaker's Bay is the wave pool. It is smaller than Aquaventure, so you can see most of it in half a day.

It is also the better choice if you are staying in Jumeirah or the Marina and want a shorter taxi, about 20-30 minutes from Downtown or the Marina. Our Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab guide covers the photo spots, beaches and Souk Madinat around it.

Younger children and day trips

Under 10, Legoland Water Park is the safest bet: shallow pools, gentle rivers and slides sized for small bodies. Laguna Waterpark at La Mer is a smaller option on the Jumeirah coast, good for a few hours and easy to combine with the beach.

Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi is the thrill option, but it is 1.5-2 hours' drive from Dubai each way, so it only makes sense as part of an Abu Dhabi day. Our Yas Waterworld guide has the rides, and the Abu Dhabi with kids guide shows how a 9-hour day with children fits together.

Heights, swimwear and what to bring

Every slide posts a minimum height, and the biggest drop slides in Aquaventure and Wild Wadi ask for taller riders than the family rides do. Non-swimmers and small children should use the shallow zones and wear a life jacket where one is offered. Bring swimwear to change into, a towel, a hat, sunscreen and water shoes, because the paving burns in summer.

Most water parks ask for proper swimwear in the water and publish a list of what you may bring, so check the official rules before you pack. Our beach rules and safety guide covers the wider swimwear etiquette in Dubai, and the dress code guide explains what to wear to and from the park.

Tickets, timing and heat

Buy online for a fixed date and go on a weekday if you can, because weekends and school holidays are the busiest. Arrive at opening: the queues are shortest in the first two hours and the sun is gentler. From June to September the midday sun is strong, so use shade, drink often and keep sunscreen on, even in the water.

In December and January the air is cooler, the pools feel it, and the middle of the day is the best time. March to May and October to November are the sweet spots for most families, and our month-by-month guide to Dubai shows how the weather changes through the year.

Open water next door: jet ski at the Wild Wadi harbour

If the teenagers have outgrown the slides, take them to the sea instead. Our jet ski ride to the Burj Al Arab starts at Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour, next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and runs 30 minutes from $79 per jet ski. An instructor rides in front, takes photos and videos for free, and two people can share one jet ski. Drivers must be 16 or older and passengers at least 5.

For groups of up to four, the tubing donut ride is from $149 per ride, 30 minutes, for riders aged 12 or over. Both tours need an original passport or Emirates ID, have no hotel pickup and are paid in full in advance; the jet ski guide and donut ride guide have the details.

FAQ

What is the best water park in Dubai?

Aquaventure at Atlantis The Palm is the biggest and best for thrills. Wild Wadi, beside the Burj Al Arab, is the better choice for a shorter day, and Legoland Water Park is best for children under 10. Expect a few hundred dirhams per adult for a one-day ticket at the big two.

Aquaventure or Wild Wadi: which is better?

Aquaventure is bigger and has the beach and the Leap of Faith, so choose it for teenagers and a full day. Wild Wadi is smaller, has Burj Al Arab views and suits a half day on the Jumeirah coast. Aquaventure is usually the dearer ticket.

Which Dubai water park is best for toddlers?

Legoland Water Park, built for ages 2-12, or Splashers at Aquaventure, which has its own shallow zone for small children. Laguna Waterpark at La Mer is a smaller alternative.

Are Dubai water parks open in winter and summer?

Yes, they open all year, but opening days and hours change with the season. In summer go at opening to avoid the midday sun; in December and January the air is cooler and midday is the better time.

How do I get to Aquaventure without a car?

Take the Dubai Tram to the Palm Jumeirah stop, then the Palm Monorail from Gateway station to Atlantis, about 15 minutes for roughly AED 20-30 return, or a taxi from your hotel.

Can I do a water park and a jet ski on the same day?

Yes, if you pick Wild Wadi and agree a jet ski slot with us for Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour, next door to it. Do the jet ski before or after the park, not in the middle, and keep your passport or Emirates ID for the check-in.
