SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is an indoor marine park on Yas Island with eight realms, more than 150 species and over 100 animal experiences and presentations. A single-day ticket is from about AED 375 online. It suits children of about 2-10, grandparents and animal lovers better than thrill-seekers. Allow 5-7 hours, take a light jacket for the polar realms and plan about 1.5 hours each way from Dubai, or ride the free Yas Express shuttle with your e-ticket. Our Abu Dhabi city tour does not go inside the park.

SeaWorld or something else: five ways to plan the day
#1
Dubai Aquarium instead
If you are not making the trip to Abu Dhabi anyway, the aquarium inside The Dubai Mall is the quick option: a huge viewing panel with sharks and rays, an hour or two rather than a day, and no road time. SeaWorld is the bigger, slower, animal-led day out, with presentations, a research and rescue centre and several realms.
#2
Ferrari World or Warner Bros. World next door
SeaWorld is the calm park on Yas Island; the other indoor parks are for speed and for cartoon and superhero rides. If the family disagrees about what a good day is, give each park its own day, because a two-park ticket exists but each park fills a day. The neighbours' guides help you choose which comes first.
#3
Yas Mall for lunch and a break
SeaWorld has 17 places to eat by its own count, but the park does not allow outside food or drink, so a cheaper lunch means eating at Yas Mall before or after your visit. It is also the practical fallback if the children are done by 2 PM.
#4
Yas Waterworld in the cooler months
An outdoor waterpark with slides from a lazy river with no minimum height to steep drops from 120 cm. It is best from November to April, so a family can do SeaWorld in the heat and Waterworld on a cooler day. Children who want speed rather than fish are better served here than at SeaWorld.
#5
The capital day instead
A marine park and the Grand Mosque do not fit into one day. If you only have one day in Abu Dhabi and no small children, the guided city tour from $45 covers the capital, with pickup at 8:00 AM, and leaves the marine park for a family trip of its own.
SeaWorld Yas Island in one minute
An indoor marine park with eight realms, from the poles to the tropics. SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is built on five indoor levels of about 183,000 square metres, with more than 150 species, from sharks, rays and sea turtles to flamingos and puffins, and over 100 animal experiences and presentations. It says it has no orcas. It has a research and rescue centre, an animal care centre that visitors can see, and over 15 rides and interactive experiences, which are part of the day rather than the headline.
Tickets and time: a single-day ticket is from about AED 375 online by the park's own listing, with free parking and a free shuttle bus included. Allow 5-7 hours for a visit with two or three presentations, a break for lunch and time at the main aquarium. Check the opening hours for your date on the park's site, where an 'Open today' line is posted.
Who it suits: families with children of about 2-10, grandparents who want somewhere cool and flat to walk, and anyone who likes animals. It is not the park for coaster fans, who are better off at Ferrari World or Warner Bros. World. Everything here comes from the park's official pages and changes by season, so confirm the details before you buy.
What is inside: the park's own figures
The park names its realms as a journey from the poles to the tropics. They include Abu Dhabi Ocean, which holds the guest services, lockers and a mother's lounge, plus Rocky Point, Tropical Ocean, Endless Ocean, MicroOcean, Arctic and Antarctica. Endless Ocean is the big aquarium, which the park describes as the largest multi-species aquarium in the region. Tropical Ocean is where the flamingos live on a sandy lagoon. Arctic and Antarctica are the cold ones, and the penguins live there.
| What | The park's figure | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Space | Five indoor levels, about 183,000 square metres | Lots of walking; wear comfortable shoes and use a stroller for under-4s |
| Animals | More than 150 species, no orcas | Sharks, rays, turtles, penguins, birds and more |
| Animal experiences and presentations | Over 100 | You will not see all of them; pick two or three from the schedule |
| Rides and interactive experiences | Over 15 | A supporting act; check heights on the park's ride pages |
| Live characters and roaming performances | Over 20 | Good for toddlers and under-sevens |
| Eating and shopping | 17 dining options, 13 shops | No outside food or drink allowed in |
Figures from the park's official pages; they are updated by the park and can change.
The park's updates page sometimes lists rides and play areas that are closed for a few days, so check it before a trip with children who have set their hearts on one.
Shows, encounters and animal welfare
The park publishes a presentation schedule on its website and in the app, and the sensible plan is to choose two or three presentations you care about and build the day around them, rather than trying to catch everything. The park also sells extras: animal encounters, which it says have limited availability and recommend booking in advance, a guided research and rescue tour, and a Quick Pass with premium seating. Dolphins appear in the park's own events listing, including a breakfast with dolphins.
Whether you want to go at all is a fair question. Some travellers prefer not to visit marine parks where animals are kept in managed care. The park says it is certified by Global Humane for animal welfare and that it has a 24-hour rescue team for marine animals in the region. We cannot judge that for you, so read the park's own pages on animal care and decide whether it suits your family. If it does not, Dubai has other family days that do not involve animals, and the best things to do in Dubai with kids guide has them.
Ages, rules and who should skip it
The ticket terms are short and sensible, and it is worth knowing them before you leave Dubai.
- Babies and toddlers (2 and under): free entry, with an adult holding a ticket; ID may be asked for as proof of age. Strollers can be rented at guest services for about AED 40.
- Ages 3-11: need a ticket and a responsible adult with them. This is the sweet spot for the animals and the live characters.
- Teenagers: fine if they like animals and photography, thin if they want thrills. Some will be restless after three hours.
- Adults and grandparents: an easy walk, cool and flat, with lockers (about AED 45) and wheelchairs free to borrow from guest services, subject to availability.
- Food: no food or drink is allowed in from outside, and guests with allergies should know that the animals eat fish and shellfish daily, so ask the staff about allergens.
- Height rules: some rides have them. The park's terms say not every guest will be able to use every ride, so check the ride pages before you promise anything.
Skip SeaWorld if your children want roller coasters, if you dislike marine parks, or if your Abu Dhabi time is one day and you have not seen the Grand Mosque. Choose it for a calm, cool, animal-focused day with small children, especially in July and August, when everything outdoors is hard work.
What to wear and how long to stay
SeaWorld is fully indoors, but the realms are climate-matched, so Tropical Ocean is warm while Arctic and Antarctica are noticeably cold. The park advises dressing in layers or bringing a jacket, and you can buy warm clothes in its shops if you forget.
Allow 5-7 hours. A realistic day starts with the biggest aquarium and one presentation in the morning, lunch around noon (the park has 17 places to eat), a second presentation after lunch and the polar realms when the children are wilting, since they are cool. Leave before the closing crowd so the shuttle or taxi queue is short. Date changes are possible before 7 PM the day before for a fee of about AED 50 per ticket, and tickets are not refundable, so choose the date with care.
Getting there from Dubai
The park is on Yas Island, about 1.5 hours by road from Dubai Marina. The cheapest way is free: the Yas Express runs shuttle buses from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah to Yas Island, and the park's pages say you need a valid e-ticket and should be at the stop 5 minutes before the bus arrives. The buses have wifi, and times are approximate because of traffic.
| Option | Time each way | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yas Express shuttle | Check the timetable | Free with an e-ticket | Show the e-ticket; be at the stop 5 minutes early; wifi on board |
| Taxi or Careem | About 1.5 hours | About AED 250-350 | Door to door; book the return or use an app that works on your phone |
| Etihad Rail plus shuttle | About 1 hour on the train, plus transfers | From about AED 39 online for Comfort class | A taxi is needed to the Dubai station; the free Yas Express shuttle links the Mohammed Bin Zayed City station to Yas Island |
| Own car | About 1.5 hours | Fuel; free parking with a ticket | Leave before 8:00 AM |
Park shuttle details and rail fares as listed by the operators as of 29 October 2026; confirm before you travel.

SeaWorld, the other Yas parks and our Abu Dhabi tour
Yas Island has four theme parks and SeaWorld is the gentlest of them. Yas Waterworld is the outdoor option for the cooler months, and Yas Island from Dubai explains what fits in one day. If you only choose one park for a family with small children, SeaWorld is the safe pick, and if you are staying in Dubai the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo guide covers the shorter alternative. For teenagers, read Ferrari World or Warner Bros. World.
Our Abu Dhabi city tour from $45 per person is the capital in nine hours, with pickup at 8:00 AM in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman. On Yas Island it stops for photographs at Ferrari World and for lunch at Yas Mall; it does not enter SeaWorld, and there is no time inside its loop for a park. A private car for up to 7 people at $245 has a flexible schedule, so ask on WhatsApp what is possible.
Keeping children happy in Dubai the day before or after is easy: the 1-hour shared yacht tour from $32 welcomes children under adult supervision, and the 90-minute speedboat tour from $45 takes children aged 5 and over. If you are staying in Dubai with a baby or toddler, take a look at our Dubai with kids itinerary.

Date changes before 7 PM the day before cost about AED 50, and tickets are not refundable, so check the date. Prices vary by season; confirm on the official site.
How long do you need at SeaWorld Yas Island?
Allow 5-7 hours. That is enough for the main aquarium, the polar realms, two or three animal presentations and lunch. Families with small children often finish earlier, and a full day suits only those who plan the presentation schedule in advance.
What ages is SeaWorld Abu Dhabi good for?
About 2-10 is the sweet spot, with grandparents enjoying it as well. Under-3s are free, ages 3-11 need an adult with them, and teenagers who want thrills will find the rides modest. Some rides have height limits, so check the park's ride pages.
Is SeaWorld Abu Dhabi indoors, and what should I wear?
It is fully indoors. Tropical Ocean is warm, but the Arctic and Antarctica realms are cold, so the park advises layers or a light jacket. Wear comfortable shoes: it covers five indoor levels of about 183,000 square metres.
Are there orcas or dolphin shows at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi?
The park says it has no orcas. Dolphins appear in its events listing, including a breakfast with dolphins, and the park publishes a presentation schedule for the day. Check the schedule on the official site, and read its animal-care pages if the question matters to you.
Is there a free shuttle from Dubai to SeaWorld Abu Dhabi?
Yes. The Yas Express runs free shuttle buses from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah to Yas Island for guests with an e-ticket. Be at the stop 5 minutes early; times are approximate and listed on the park's site. A taxi is about AED 250-350 each way.
Can I bring food into SeaWorld Abu Dhabi?
No. The ticket terms say you may not bring food or drinks into the park. It has 17 dining options inside, and Yas Mall is a cheaper alternative before or after your visit.
Does our Abu Dhabi city tour visit SeaWorld?
No. The shared tour from $45 stops for photographs at Ferrari World and for lunch at Yas Mall in a nine-hour loop with the Grand Mosque and the BAPS Mandir. Park tickets are not included, and a park needs a full day of its own.
