Five park days compared with the resort

LEGOLAND Dubai #1
Dubai Parks and Resorts, Jebel Ali Families with children aged about 2-12

LEGOLAND Dubai

The best resort park for younger children, with brick-built landmarks, gentle rides, building zones and a water park next door. It is aimed at the 2-12 age range, so it makes little sense for adults on their own; check the entry rules before you buy. Tickets start from about AED 295, and a full day is realistic with children under 10.

IMG Worlds of Adventure #2
Dubailand, a separate site from the resort Summer, because it is indoors

IMG Worlds of Adventure

A huge indoor theme park under a woven dome, with roller-coasters and themed zones in air-conditioning. It is the sensible choice when the outdoor parks are too hot, from about June to September. It is not part of Dubai Parks and Resorts, so compare it with Motiongate in our dedicated guide before you pick.

Aquaventure Waterpark #3
Atlantis The Palm, Palm Jumeirah Big slides and a lazy river, for ages that can queue

Aquaventure Waterpark

A water park built around the Ziggurat slide tower at Atlantis, with a lazy river and pools beside the Gulf. It is the headline water park in the city and a rival to the Legoland Water Park for families with older children. Check the height rules for the big slides, and go on a weekday if you can.

Wild Wadi Waterpark #4
Jumeirah, beside the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab A shorter, older-style water day with Burj Al Arab views

Wild Wadi Waterpark

A smaller, older water park with the Master Blaster water-coaster tubes, in Umm Suqeim within sight of the Burj Al Arab. It suits a half day, and it pairs with the sea activities at the nearby harbour. It is easier to reach from central Dubai than the resort in Jebel Ali, which matters with tired children.

Ski Dubai #5
Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha A summer afternoon in the snow

Ski Dubai

An indoor snow park with a chairlift, slopes and snow-covered rocks, inside a mall on the Red Line. It is a cool, central alternative to a long drive to a theme park, and it keeps a family out of the heat for an afternoon. Check what the ticket includes, such as jackets and boots, and bring socks.

Which Dubai Parks and Resorts park? The short answer

Choose Motiongate for ages 6 and up and for adults, Legoland for children aged about 2-12, the Legoland Water Park for hot days and Real Madrid World only if you follow football. The resort's official site lists five attractions: Motiongate, Real Madrid World, Legoland, the Legoland Water Park and Riverland. Single-park tickets start from about AED 295, and Riverland, the dining and shopping street that links the parks, starts from AED 25. Prices change, so check the official site before you book.

One park fills a day, so do not plan two in one day. For a family with mixed ages, two days is the honest answer: Motiongate for the older ones and Legoland for the younger ones, ideally with a night in between. For a short trip, one park is plenty.

The parks side by side

The table sets out who each park suits. Opening hours follow a calendar on the official site that changes by day and season, so do not assume a standard closing time.

Motiongate, Legoland and the rest in plain words

Motiongate is the big-ride park, themed on films. It has family coasters in the Smurfs Village, rides and shows in the DreamWorks, Lionsgate and Sony Pictures zones, and a bigger thrill range than Legoland. It suits the 6-to-adult range, and it is the better choice for a family where the oldest child is 8 or more. Our Motiongate guide has the zones and the ride list.

Legoland is for small children and their parents: brick-built landmarks, gentle rides, building zones and a water park beside it. Adults without a child will find little to do, so check the entry rules before you buy. The Legoland guide covers ages, rides and timing.

Real Madrid World is on the official list as the football-themed park. If nobody in your group follows football, skip it. Riverland is a place to eat and walk between parks, not a park, so it is a meal stop rather than a day of its own.

One day or two

Each park is built to fill a day, and queues, meals and a shaded rest take more time than a map suggests. The resort has on-site hotels, including Lapita and the Legoland Hotel, which makes a two-day plan simpler. Look on the official site for a multi-park or multi-day pass: the home page promotes an annual pass, but we could not confirm a multi-day ticket from it.

  • One day, children under 6: Legoland, and the water park beside it if it is hot.
  • One day, ages 8 and up or adults: Motiongate, arriving at opening to ride the big attractions first.
  • Two days, mixed ages: Motiongate on one day and Legoland on the other, with a night close by.
  • Football fans: add Real Madrid World as a half-day extra, not as the main plan.
  • Short trip, four days or fewer: one park at most, and spend the other days on the city.

Heat, season and queues

October to April is the comfortable season, with warm days and mild evenings. From June to September the outdoor parks are hard at midday, so arrive at opening, ride the big attractions first, take lunch indoors and go back out late in the afternoon, or choose an indoor alternative such as IMG Worlds of Adventure or Ski Dubai. The IMG Worlds vs Motiongate guide compares the two big-ride options directly.

Weekends and school holidays are busiest, and events can change the picture: listing sites show the UNTOLD music festival at the resort on 5-8 November 2026, so check the official calendar for park hours and crowds around event dates. Bring water, sunscreen, hats and comfortable shoes, and read what any queue-skipping upgrade includes on the official site before you pay for it. Fast-lane products can be worth it on a crowded day and a waste on a quiet one.

Getting to the resort, and what it costs

Dubai Parks and Resorts is in Jebel Ali, on the south-west side of the city, roughly 30-50 minutes by road from the Marina and Downtown depending on traffic. There is no Metro station at the gate, so most visitors take a taxi or a car for the last leg. Check the RTA S'hail app for the current bus links, and see how to get around Dubai for the basics.

Budget for more than the ticket: food and drinks inside, lockers, parking if you drive and any fast-lane upgrade add up fast, so a family of four should plan for tickets from about AED 295 each (children's prices may differ) plus a meal budget. For comparison, our full-day desert safari is from $45 per person, about AED 165, and includes the BBQ dinner.

If you want a different family day

A theme park is not the only full day out. Our full-day desert safari is 7 hours from $45 per person with hotel pickup in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman in an air-conditioned 4x4, and it includes dune bashing, sandboarding, a camel ride, a BBQ dinner and shows; you pay on the day. It is not recommended for infants under 3, pregnant women or people with back or heart problems, and our desert safari with kids guide covers ages and bedtimes.

For something shorter, the shared yacht tour in Dubai Marina is 1 hour from $32 per person. Children are welcome under adult supervision, and anyone prone to seasickness should take medication 30 minutes before boarding. Full prepayment is needed to confirm it, and there are no hotel transfers. For older children who like heights, a Burj Khalifa ticket is from $55 per person for a timed slot of 1.5-2 hours, paid in full in advance, with children accompanied by an adult. Motiongate, with its film-themed coasters and shows, is the better park for teenagers and adults. Real Madrid World suits football fans. Legoland has little for adults without children.

Not sensibly. Each park fills a day, with queues, meals and rest breaks, so plan one park per day. For a family with mixed ages, two days with a night between works best.

October to April, when days are warm rather than hot. From June to September arrive at opening, ride the big attractions first, eat indoors at midday and go back out late in the afternoon.

How do I get to Dubai Parks and Resorts?
