What are The Dubai Mall opening hours?

Five things worth your time at and next to The Dubai Mall

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo #1
Lower levels; the viewing panel faces the mall floor Families, a free look or a paid hour

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

The huge acrylic panel with sharks, rays and shoals of fish is free to look at from the mall floor, and it is a satisfying five minutes for nothing. Going inside costs about AED 150 and up, which is worth it with children. Our aquarium guide explains what the ticket includes.

At the Top: the Burj Khalifa entrance #2
Lower ground floor; timed tickets The view at sunset

At the Top: the Burj Khalifa entrance

The observation decks start on the lower ground floor of the mall, after a security check and an exhibition. A slot about an hour before sunset gives day, dusk and the city lights on one ticket, and Levels 124 and 125 start from $55. Be inside the mall well before your slot, not arriving at it.

The Fountain promenade #3
Burj Lake, outside the mall A free evening show

The Fountain promenade

The Dubai Fountain plays on Burj Lake outside the mall every 30 minutes from 6 PM, and watching from the promenade is free. It gets crowded on Fridays and weekends, so arrive 30-45 minutes early for a front spot, or take the second row and watch two shows.

Souk Al Bahar and the bridge #4
Across the lake from the mall A calmer coffee and a wider view of the lake

Souk Al Bahar and the bridge

The Arabesque souk next to the mall has restaurants and cafes with views over Burj Lake, and the arched footbridge gives a wider view of the Fountain jets. It is calmer than the mall's main atrium and a good place for a sit-down after the walk, but lake-view tables fill early at show times.

Dubai Opera, a short walk away #5
Opera Plaza, Downtown An evening show after a day in the mall

Dubai Opera, a short walk away

Dubai Opera stands in Downtown, a short walk from the mall through the Burj Lake side, with a dhow-hull facade that looks good in daylight and lit. You do not need a ticket to see the building from the plaza; a performance is a separate booking. Our opera guide covers shows and dress.

The Dubai Mall in one minute

The Dubai Mall opens at 10 AM and closes at 11 PM Monday to Thursday and at midnight Friday to Sunday. Restaurants and food courts stay open later, until midnight on weekdays and 1 AM Friday to Sunday. Entry is free; you pay for the attractions inside. Hours change on public holidays and in Ramadan, so check the mall's hours page before a late visit.

It is a district rather than a mall: 1,200+ shops, more than 200 luxury brands on Fashion Avenue, the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, an ice rink, a cinema, KidZania and VR Park, and doors to the Burj Khalifa and the lake where the Fountain plays. For a first visit the three that matter are the tower, the aquarium panel and the Fountain. Shopping is optional. Allow 3-4 hours for those three and a full day if you want to shop.

What is inside: a quick map

You do not need to see all of it. This is the short list of areas a visitor actually uses, with what each costs.

Hours and tenants change; the mall's own site and app have the current list.

How not to get lost

The Dubai Mall is easy to enter and hard to leave from the right door. A few habits fix most of it:

  • Note your car park or entrance before you walk away. Fashion, Cinema, Grand, Zabeel and Fountain Views are separate car parks, and the mall's app has a Find My Car feature.
  • Download the mall's app for the map: it shows the shop you want and the nearest entrance.
  • Use four fixed points: the Waterfall with the silver divers, the aquarium panel, Fashion Avenue and the ice rink. If you can see one, you can find the rest from the signs.
  • Pick one meeting point with your group, such as the Waterfall, and say the floor. 'The entrance' means several different things here.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. From the Metro station to the Fountain is a 20-25 minute walk on a good day.
  • Be inside the mall at least 30 minutes before a Burj Khalifa slot; the walk to the lower ground floor and the security check come before the elevator.

Metro, taxi and parking

The Metro is the cheapest and most predictable way in: the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, then a 10-15 minute walk along the air-conditioned Metro Link bridge. Our Metro guide and Nol card guide cover the fares, which are AED 3-7.5 a trip on a Silver card.

HowWhat to expectTip
MetroRed Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, then 10-15 minutes on the Metro Link bridgeWalk back to the station after the Fountain rather than waiting for a taxi
Taxi or ride-hailingDrop-off at the mall's entrances; queues after the Fountain showsAsk for the entrance nearest your plan, such as the Fountain side
CarThe first 4 hours of parking are free Monday to Thursday and the first 6 hours Friday to Sunday; after that the fee rises by the hourThe paid car parks (Grand, Cinema, Fashion) charge to a Salik account, so a hire car needs a working tag; the Zabeel and Fountain Views car parks are free
ValetA separate paid serviceNo Salik account needed

Parking rules and fees are set by the mall and change; check The Dubai Mall site before you drive. Ask your rental company whether the car has a Salik tag.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the other option, and renting a car as a tourist covers Salik tolls. From the Marina the mall is a straight Red Line run: see Dubai Marina to Burj Khalifa.

Eating at The Dubai Mall

Restaurants and food courts run later than the shops: until midnight Monday to Thursday and 1 AM Friday to Sunday. The mall's own top picks include chains such as Eataly, Nando's, The Cheesecake Factory and Social House, and there is a Waitrose in the Fountain Views wing for snacks and water. Food courts are the cheap option. Terraces overlooking the lake cost more and fill from about 6 PM, when the Fountain shows begin.

Book a terrace table if you want dinner with the show, and do not expect a bargain on the Burj Lake side. If you would rather eat Emirati street food than mall chains, the Old Dubai walking tour, from $35 (or $55 with street-food tastings), is the other half of the city.

One day: Burj Khalifa, aquarium and Fountain

The simplest plan for a first visit is to put the tower first, then the lake. This example uses a November or December slot, when sunset is about 5:30 PM.

TimeWhatWhere
About 3:30 PMArrive, walk to the At the Top entrance and go through securityLower ground floor
About 4:30 PMBurj Khalifa slot, an hour before sunset; stay as long as you likeLevels 124 and 125
About 6:30 PMBack down: the aquarium panel and a walk along Fashion AvenueGround floor
About 7:00 PMA Fountain show from the promenadeLake edge
About 7:30 PMDinner at a terrace or a food courtMall or Souk Al Bahar

In June and July sunset is just after 7 PM, so the slot moves to about 6 PM and the Fountain comes after dark.

Our Burj Khalifa ticket is a timed e-ticket sent on WhatsApp: Levels 124 and 125 from $55 per person, SKY Level 148 from $115. Sunset slots are prime time and cost more, and we confirm the price for your slot before you pay. Payment is in full in advance and tickets cannot be refunded or changed once issued, so check the date and time. On request we also book Sky Views, The View at The Palm and the Dubai Frame.

The best time to visit Burj Khalifa guide has the slot for every month, and Level 124 vs 148 and Burj Khalifa or Sky Views help you choose the view.

When to go, what to wear, and what to skip

Weekday mornings are the calmest hours. Friday to Sunday evenings are the busiest, especially when the Fountain is running. TradeArabia reported that the Dubai Shopping Festival runs from 4 December to 17 January, and the mall is at its busiest then (as of 29 October 2026; confirm the dates on Visit Dubai). The UAE weekend is Saturday and Sunday, so those are the busiest daytime hours too.

Inside, the air conditioning is cold, so bring a light layer. Malls ask for modest dress, with shoulders and knees covered; see the dress code guide. Tourists can claim VAT back on eligible purchases at the airport, covered in our VAT refund guide.

If you are building a Downtown day, note that the Museum of the Future is temporarily closed. Its galleries closed on 1 September, and Gulf News and Khaleej Times reported a reopening in the first quarter of next year, with no confirmed date. Our Museum of the Future guide has the details; until it reopens, the tower, the aquarium panel and the Fountain fill the day.

If shopping is the point, compare the options in best malls in Dubai. For the Burj Khalifa, the Fountain and the aquarium, The Dubai Mall wins. For snow, go to Mall of the Emirates: Dubai Mall or Mall of the Emirates compares them, and the Ski Dubai guide has the details.

The first 4 hours are free Monday to Thursday and the first 6 hours Friday to Sunday, then the fee rises by the hour. The paid car parks charge to a Salik account, so a hire car needs a working tag. The Zabeel and Fountain Views car parks are free. Check the mall's site for current rules.

We book a timed ticket for your date and slot, from $55 per person for Levels 124 and 125, and send the e-tickets on WhatsApp. The At the Top entrance is on the lower ground floor of the mall; bring a passport or ID, as the name on the booking may be checked.

What should I wear to The Dubai Mall?

Light, modest clothes with shoulders and knees covered, comfortable shoes for long walks, and a thin layer because the air conditioning is cold. Beachwear is not appropriate in the mall.
