Four things to plan around at Dubai Design Week
#1
Abwab: In Other Words
Abwab is the festival's installation programme. In 2026 it is called In Other Words and shows five practices in one indoor group exhibition: Dalia Rafeh, Grace Shieh, Kanaka Raghavan, UBIK and Varussi. It is curated by Caoimhe CJ Reynolds and Alexie Glass-Kantor, and there are no national pavilions this year. It is open from 10 AM to 10 PM. The photo is a stock image, not the exhibition.
#2
Downtown Design
The fair calls itself the leading fair for contemporary design in the Middle East, and for its latest edition it cites over 300 brands. Tickets are sold through its website, and the prices are not on the pages we read. It has a taxi drop-off and valet parking at the main entrance, and shuttle buses run from the Dubai Design District 1 bus stop. The photo is a stock image.
#3
Desert Dweller pavilion
A pavilion by Ethr Studio, designed by Omar Darwish and curated by Shaheer Akbar. It reimagines the Bedouin tent as a place for gathering and hospitality, with an Arabic coffee bar for qahwa served with aseeda, furniture, retail, desert soundscapes and workshops on craft and carpet weaving. The photo shows coffee pots in the Coffee Museum, not the pavilion.
#4
Metro and bus to d3
The festival says the closest Metro station is Dubai Mall / Burj Khalifa. From there, take RTA bus D03 to the Dubai Design District 1 stop. Live bus times are in the S'hail app or on rta.ae. Parking is free for the first two hours and then AED 20 per hour, and taxis have drop-off points in the district. Our Metro guide explains Nol cards and the lines.
Dubai Design Week 2026: the short answer
Dubai Design Week 2026 runs from Tuesday 3 to Sunday 8 November at Dubai Design District, known as d3. It is the 12th edition. What to see
The 2026 programme page lists twelve items. These are the ones that are easiest to enjoy without any design background:
- Abwab: In Other Words: the group exhibition, built on the idea that every act of communication involves a decision.
- Three Gardens and a Room: an installation that reimagines the garden as three spatial experiences.
- Form in Motion: an installation that links haute couture and automotive design.
- Playing Field: a game of ludo rebuilt from handmade recycled cement tiles.
- Taleem: an installation based on the coded notation used in Kashmiri carpet and Kani shawl making.
- Herding the Unheard: about the pastoral communication between people and animals.
- Desert Dweller: the Bedouin tent as a coffee bar and gathering place.
- Maker Space workshops: for example stop motion animation with smartphones and simple craft materials, and building a pinhole camera.
The page lists two more items: InBetween, an installation on the boundary between past and future through fragmented forms, and the UAE Designer Exhibition, which shows emerging local talent. The festival also describes talks and Urban Commissions, but we could not read their 2026 details, so check the programme page for times.
Getting to d3
The festival's visitor page says the closest Metro station is Dubai Mall / Burj Khalifa. From there take RTA bus D03 to the Dubai Design District 1 stop. Shuttle buses run from that stop to Downtown Design. Live bus times are in the S'hail app or on rta.ae. Our Dubai Metro guide explains Nol cards and the lines.
By car, the page says paid parking is free for the first two hours and then AED 20 per hour, with valet parking at several d3 locations and at the Downtown Design entrance. Taxis have drop-off points through the district, and Downtown Design has its own at the main entrance. Check these rates before you go. Our taxis and Careem guide covers fares and apps.
Tickets, children and the weather
The festival is free and open to visitors of all ages. Maker Space says its workshops suit all ages and skill levels and include children's activities. Downtown Design needs a ticket, which you buy on the fair's website; we could not read the prices, so check them there before you go.
November is one of the best months to be outdoors in Dubai, with afternoons of about 28-33°C and nights of 18-23°C, and the sun sets at about 5:30 PM. The Marketplace is outdoors, so bring water and a hat for the afternoon. Our Dubai in November guide and the what's on in November guide cover the rest of the month.
A day plan: d3 and Downtown
Dubai Design Week is not one of our tours. The nearest Metro stop to d3 is the one used for the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa, so the two fit into one day.
- Late morning: d3 for Abwab and a coffee at the Desert Dweller pavilion.
- Afternoon: Downtown Design, if you hold a ticket, or the Maker Space workshops.
- Late afternoon: the Burj Khalifa deck. Our Burj Khalifa tickets are from $55 per person for Levels 124 and 125, by timed slot, and sunset slots are the hardest to get. Tickets cannot be refunded or changed once issued, so fix the date first. See the best time to visit Burj Khalifa.
- Another day: the Old Dubai walking tour, from $35 per person, shows the older side of the city in 3-4 hours, through Al Fahidi, Al Seef and the souks.
If it is already over: what comes next
The 2026 edition ends on Sunday 8 November. The 2027 dates are not announced as of 2 November 2026, and the festival's site has a Past Editions page for earlier years. Sign up to its newsletter if you want the dates when they come.
For more art and design in Dubai, the next big date is Art Dubai 2027, from 7 to 11 April at Madinat Jumeirah. Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz has exhibitions through the winter; see our Alserkal Avenue guide. The December 2026 events guide covers what follows in Dubai.
