Four things to do at Deep Dive Dubai

Sunken City Walk #1
A platform about 4 m below the surface Non-swimmers, nervous guests and children from age 10

Sunken City Walk

You are fitted with gear and step onto a platform about 4 m below the surface, and guides lead you through the sunken set. Visit Dubai's page says no swimming skills or certification are needed. It takes about 30 minutes in all, including gearing up, and is listed at AED 600 per person.

Discover Snorkelling #2
The surface of the pool, over the sunken city Families with children from age 6 who can swim

Discover Snorkelling

A swim vest keeps you on the surface while you look down at the sunken city. Visit Dubai lists two hours in all, with up to one hour in the water, at AED 400 per person from age 6. You must be comfortable in water and able to swim, and no earlier experience is needed.

Discover Scuba Dive #3
Down to 12 m, with an instructor People who want to try breathing underwater, from age 10

Discover Scuba Dive

A short briefing and shallow-water practice come first, then the dive to the sunken city at up to 12 m. Visit Dubai lists two hours in all, with about 45 minutes in the water, at AED 1,800 per person. All equipment and an instructor are included, and non-diving guests can watch through viewing windows.

Freediving #4
A single breath, no tank Strong swimmers who want a different way to go deep

Freediving

Our scuba guide lists freediving at Deep Dive Dubai from age 13 and from about AED 900, taken from the operator's price list on an earlier visit. We could not open that list this time, so check the age, the price and any experience you need with the operator before you plan around it.

Deep Dive Dubai: the short answer

Deep Dive Dubai is an indoor pool 60.02 m deep, listed by Guinness World Records as the deepest pool for diving, and you can try it without any experience. Visit Dubai's booking page lists the Sunken City Walk at AED 600, Discover Snorkelling at AED 400 and a Discover Scuba Dive down to 12 m at AED 1,800. The walk and the scuba dive start at age 10, and snorkelling at age 6. The address is Nad Al Sheba 1, at the NAS Sports Complex.

Visit Dubai's page describes the oyster-shaped building as a nod to Dubai's pearl-diving history. The sunken set is the reason to go: you swim or walk through a drowned city, not just up and down a deep pool. We are a tour company, not a dive centre, so we do not sell these tickets. We wrote this guide because many guests ask about it, and the figures are those on the official booking page, read on 2 November 2026.

Prices differ between listings. Our scuba diving guide quoted a lower price for the discover dive, taken from the operator's own price list on an earlier visit. The operator's website did not open for us this time, so we give the Visit Dubai figures. Check the price on the day you book, and read what is included.

Discover Scuba Dive: how it works

This is the experience for a first scuba dive. According to Visit Dubai's page, it starts with a short briefing on the basics and the equipment. Then you practise in shallow water. Then the instructor takes you down to the sunken city at up to 12 m. The ticket covers the guided dive, all diving equipment, an experienced instructor and photos. Video is an optional extra at a price.

You must be at least 10 on the day, comfortable in water and able to swim. You fill in a liability release and a medical form before the activity. If you have one of the medical conditions on the form, you need a doctor's signed and stamped Declaration of Fitness. Guests under 18 must come with a parent or legal guardian, and children up to and including 11 can only enter with an adult aged 18 or over.

Our honest view: AED 1,800 is a lot for about 45 minutes in the water. It is worth it if you want to feel breathing underwater in a calm, clear place with an instructor next to you. If you only want to see the sunken city, the walk and the snorkelling cost far less.

Sunken City Walk and snorkelling: for non-divers and families

The Sunken City Walk is the easiest way in. Visit Dubai says it needs no swimming skills or certification, only good general health. You gear up, then step onto a platform about 4 m below the surface, and guides lead you through the underwater set. The ticket lists premium equipment, an instructor, a locker, photos and videos. It starts at age 10 and takes about 30 minutes in all, including gearing up.

Snorkelling suits families with younger children. It starts at age 6, and a snorkelling swim vest keeps you on the surface while you look at the sunken city from above. You still need to be comfortable in water and able to swim. For more places to snorkel in the sea, see snorkelling in Dubai and Fujairah, and for ages and weight limits on our own water rides, see Dubai water sports age and weight rules.

Premium and Platinum: what the extra money buys

The Premium and Platinum tickets use the same depth, up to 12 m, as the standard dive. The extra money buys souvenirs and attention. Visit Dubai lists the Premium dive at AED 2,400 with an edited video, an honorary wall certificate and a AED 100 credit for the dive shop. The Platinum dive is listed from AED 3,000, runs about 3 hours with about 50 minutes in the water, and adds a guaranteed one-on-one session with an instructor, edited short and long videos, personalised images and a tour of the facility.

If a video of your dive matters to you, Premium is the simple choice. Platinum is for people who want the instructor to themselves. If neither matters, the standard dive gives you the same dive.

Booking, ID and cancellation

The booking page sets out these rules. They are strict, so read them before you pay:

  • Book at least 18 hours before the start time.
  • Tickets are strictly non-refundable. No-shows are fully charged. You can reschedule only with at least 5 days' notice before the booking date.
  • Bring a photo ID with a name that matches the booking: an original Emirates ID, an English-language driving licence or an original passport.
  • Bring a swimsuit and flip-flops. Arrive 20 minutes early for snorkelling and scuba, and 30 minutes early for the walk.
  • Complete the forms before you arrive. The liability release and the medical form are required.
  • Children: guests under 18 need a parent or guardian, and children up to 11 can only enter with an adult aged 18 or over.

If you plan to fly soon after a dive, ask the centre about its waiting time first. Our scuba diving guide gives the usual guidance. A dive on your last day is a poor idea.

Pool or sea?

The pool is the easy choice. It is indoors, clear every day and close to the city, which also makes it a good option for a very hot day. See indoor attractions in Dubai for others. For real reefs, the east coast near Fujairah is the place, and our Fujairah and east coast guide has the distances. The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is a dry way to see fish if nobody wants to get wet.

If you want the sea without the tank, our jet ski ride to the Burj Al Arab is from $79 per jet ski for 30 minutes, and the Marina speedboat tour from $45 per person gives you the skyline from the water with no experience needed.
