Jet Ski, Parasailing or Flyboard in Dubai: Which One to Pick

Jet ski, parasailing or flyboard in Dubai? Effort, thrill, photos, age, weight and cost per person for one, two or four, with a clear pick for every kind of group.

Cheapest of the three per head: two on one jet ski, $39.50 eachLeast effort: parasailing, 10-12 minutes in the air, nothing to steerMost skill: flyboard, 16+, up to about 120 kg, one rider at a time
Parasailing Flight in Dubai — From $99 per person

Pick the jet ski if you want to drive: from $79 for two riders, the cheapest per head, with the Burj Al Arab from the water. Pick parasailing if you want the view and zero effort: $99 solo, $179 for two, 10-12 minutes in the air. Pick the flyboard if you want a challenge and a video of yourself above the water: $89 per person, 16+, one rider at a time. All three leave from the same Umm Suqeim harbour, so the real question is effort, nerves and who is coming with you.

Jet ski, parasailing or flyboard: which should I pick in Dubai?

Pick the jet ski to drive: from $79 for 30 minutes on a jet ski for up to 2 riders, out to the Burj Al Arab with free photos and videos. Pick parasailing for the view with no effort: $99 solo or $179 for two, 10-12 minutes in the air. Pick the flyboard for a challenge: $89 per person for 30 minutes, ages 16+ and up to about 120 kg. All three start at the same Umm Suqeim harbour, and two can be combined on one day with a 30-minute break.

The verdict, by what you want from the morning

Pick the jet ski #1
From $79 per jet ski, 30 min, up to 2 riders Couples, friends, anyone who wants to be in control

Pick the jet ski

You hold the throttle, so the ride is as fast or as gentle as you choose, behind an instructor who leads the way to the Burj Al Arab and shoots your photos and videos for free. Two people share one jet ski, which makes it the cheapest of the three per head: $39.50 each.

Pick parasailing #2
$99 solo, $179 tandem, 15+ First-timers who would rather not steer, couples, anyone who wants the view

Pick parasailing

Nothing to learn and nothing to steer: the crew runs the boat, you sit in the harness and rise above the sea off Jumeirah for 10-12 minutes. It is the calmest of the three and the natural pick for a pair flying side by side, but the only one with no free photos.

Pick the flyboard #3
$89 per person, 30 min, 16+ Solo thrill-seekers, sporty friends, the video

Pick the flyboard

The only one of the three that is a skill rather than a ride: jets of water under the board lift you, and your legs do the balancing. Expect effort, a few splashdowns and free photos and videos of the whole session. Up to about 120 kg, one board, riders take turns.

Can't decide: do two #4
Flyboard + jet ski $168; parasailing + jet ski $99 plus from $79 Anyone torn between two, couples who want different things

Can't decide: do two

The three share one harbour, so the cleanest answer is often both. The base keeps a 30-minute break between activities: fly the board, rest, then ride the jet ski to the Burj Al Arab for $168 in all. Parasailing and the jet ski are booked as two, $99 plus from $79.

None of the three: the donut ride #5
$149 per tube, 30 min, up to 4 riders, 12+ Groups of four, families with younger teenagers

None of the three: the donut ride

If the group is four and some are 12 to 15, the three split it: no flyboard or jet ski driving under 16, no parasailing under 15. One inflatable tube towed by a boat for 30 minutes takes all four from age 12, at $149 for the tube, $37.25 each, with free photos and videos of the ride.

Jet ski, parasailing or flyboard: the short answer

Drive, float or fly. The jet ski is for people who want to be in control: you ride behind an instructor along the Jumeirah coast to the Burj Al Arab, from $79 for 30 minutes on a jet ski that takes two. Parasailing is for people who want the view and nothing else to think about: $99 solo or $179 for two, 10-12 minutes in the air while the crew does the work. The flyboard is for people who want a challenge: $89 per person for 30 minutes of balancing on jets of water, 16 and over.

All three leave from the watersports base at Umm Suqeim harbour, next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, so the meeting point, the sea and the morning are the same whichever you pick. What differs is what each asks of you, what it costs once there are two or four of you, and who in your group is allowed on. This guide takes those one at a time. If you want the full menu first, wakeboarding and the donut ride included, start with water sports in Dubai.

The three side by side

Everything in the table comes from the three booking pages. The rows that decide most choices are what you actually do, the age limits and how the price is counted.

Jet ski prices are for early-morning and midday slots; afternoon slots cost more, and we confirm the exact price before payment. No pregnant guests and no children under 5 on any activity.

Read down the columns and the three personalities are clear. The jet ski gives you control and a landmark, parasailing gives you height and calm, and the flyboard gives you a skill and a story. The rest of this guide is about which of those matters most to you.

Effort, skill and thrill

Jet ski: medium effort, thrill on your terms. You steer and you hold the throttle, so the ride is exactly as fast as you want it to be. The jet skis can reach about 100 km/h, but nobody makes you go near that: you ride at your own pace behind the instructor and keep a safe distance from other riders and boats. The effort is in your hands and your concentration for 30 minutes, and the reward is arriving at the Burj Al Arab under your own power. It is not recommended for anyone with back or heart problems.

Parasailing: no effort, a different kind of thrill. The crew briefs you and runs the boat; your only job is to sit in the harness. The thrill is height and quiet rather than speed: 10-12 minutes above the sea with the Jumeirah coast laid out below you. If heights bother you, it is the hardest of the three to enjoy; if speed bothers you, it is the easiest.

Flyboard: the most effort, the biggest payoff. A jet ski pumps water through a long hose to jets under your feet, the thrust lifts you, and your legs do the balancing. You are not expected to know how. The briefing and tips get you started, and the 30 minutes are about finding your balance and then holding it. It is the most physical of the three, the most satisfying when it clicks, and the one with the strictest weight limit, about 120 kg.

In short: effort rises from parasailing to the jet ski to the flyboard, and so does the feeling of having done something yourself. The thrill depends on what scares you: height on the parasail, speed on the jet ski, balance on the flyboard.

Nerves, heights and water: matching the fear to the activity

Three worries hold people back: heights, speed and the water. Each activity meets a different one.

  • Afraid of heights? The jet ski never leaves the surface, so it is the obvious pick. If you still want to try the parasail, fly it as a tandem, side by side with someone you trust; the $179 tandem is cheaper than two solo flights anyway.
  • Afraid of speed? Parasailing, where you are a passenger and the crew sets the pace. On the jet ski you set the speed yourself, and a slow, careful ride behind the instructor is completely normal.
  • Not a confident swimmer? The jet ski is the easy yes: everyone wears a life jacket, the instructor leads the group, and non-swimmers can ride. For parasailing, swimming is not on the base's list of requirements, but tell us and we check. For the flyboard, where time in the water comes with learning, tell us when booking and we confirm with the base before you pay.

The age, weight and safety rules guide goes through each of these in detail, including who should sit out altogether.

Photos and videos: which one gives you the shot

On the jet ski the instructor rides in front and shoots your photos and videos, including the stop with the Burj Al Arab behind you, and they are free. The hotel is closed for restoration until about late 2027, but from the sea its sail-shaped exterior is still in full view, so the photo works. On the flyboard the team films your session free too, and the clip shows you standing above the sea on jets of water.

Parasailing is the exception. There are no free photos or videos on the parasailing boat; a GoPro can be rented for AED 150, subject to availability, so ask when you book. If the pictures are half the point, the jet ski or the flyboard wins, or pair the parasail with the jet ski so the morning still ends with an album.

Whatever you book, collect the files by AirDrop or WhatsApp before you leave the base: they are not kept after 24 hours.

Price per person for one, two or four

The headline prices hide the biggest difference of all: the jet ski is priced per machine, parasailing per flight and the flyboard per person. Here is what each costs once the group is counted.

GroupJet ski, 30 minParasailingFlyboard
1 person$79$99 (solo)$89
2 people$79 on one jet ski: $39.50 each$179 (tandem): $89.50 each$178: $89 each, one after the other
4 people$158 on two jet skis: $39.50 each$358 (two tandems): $89.50 each$356: $89 each, 2 hours of board time in turns

Jet ski prices are from-rates for early-morning and midday slots; afternoon slots cost more. A tandem needs the pair within about 150 kg combined. With four people on two jet skis, each jet ski needs a driver aged 16 or over.

For two people the jet ski is the clear value pick, $39.50 each against about $89 on either of the others, and even the 60-minute ride on to Atlantis at $140 is only $70 each. The parasailing tandem saves a couple $19 on two solo flights, as long as their combined weight is within the limit; if it is not, two solo flights cost $198.

The flyboard price never falls with numbers, and with one board at the base, four riders means two hours of board time, one rider after another. That suits friends who enjoy watching and filming each other; it suits less well a group who came to spend the morning on the water rather than on the harbour.

Couples, friends, families: who should pick which

Put the price table and the age rules together and most groups sort themselves in a sentence.

  • A couple: a tandem parasail ($179) to share the moment side by side, or one jet ski for both ($79) to share the ride, swapping at the handlebars if you are both 16 or over. If one of you wants to fly and the other wants to ride, the flyboard and jet ski package ($168) covers both.
  • Two or three friends: the jet ski for the price, the flyboard for the challenge. Friends who like a bit of competition get the most out of the flyboard, taking turns and filming each other.
  • A group of four: two jet skis at $158 is the cheapest of the three, and only the donut ride, $149 for one tube if all four are 12 or over, costs less; two tandem parasails at $358 is the calmest. Four on the flyboard works only if everyone is happy to wait their turn.
  • A family with teenagers: check ages first. At 15, parasailing is open but the flyboard and driving the jet ski are not; at 16, everything is. Children from 5 ride the jet ski as passengers behind a driver aged 16 or over, and the donut ride takes riders from 12.
  • A solo traveller: the flyboard ($89) or a solo flight ($99). A jet ski on your own is still $79, the same as for two, so it is cheapest in dollars but gives away the free second seat.
  • Back or heart problems, or a pregnancy: the jet ski is not recommended with back or heart problems, and no activity at the base is allowed during pregnancy. Ask us before booking anything.

Still torn? Do two in one morning

Because all three share a harbour, you do not actually have to choose. The base keeps a 30-minute break between activities, and two fit into one morning. The flyboard plus the 30-minute jet ski to the Burj Al Arab is a package at $168; parasailing and the jet ski are booked as two, $99 or $179 plus from $79 for the jet ski. The parasailing boat trip lasts about an hour on its own, so that pair takes the longest at the harbour.

The water sports overview lists every combo, wakeboarding and the donut ride included, and the single-activity guides go deeper on each: the jet ski, parasailing and the flyboard. Booking is on WhatsApp: full prepayment confirms the slot, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before, and if the sea is too rough your slot moves to another one or you get a full refund.

FAQ

Is jet ski or parasailing better in Dubai?

For a couple on a budget, the jet ski: $79 for both on one jet ski against $179 for a tandem flight, with free photos and the Burj Al Arab from sea level. For anyone who would rather not drive, parasailing: the crew runs the boat and you spend 10-12 minutes in the air. Parasailing has no free photos; a GoPro rents for AED 150, subject to availability.

Which is scarier: the jet ski, parasailing or the flyboard?

It depends on what scares you. Parasailing is height without speed, the jet ski is speed you control yourself, and the flyboard is balance with the sea right under you. The jet ski is the easiest to keep inside your comfort zone, because you decide how fast to go and the instructor rides in front.

Which is cheapest for two people?

The jet ski: $79 for 30 minutes on one jet ski, $39.50 each, or $140 for 60 minutes, $70 each. A tandem parasail is $179 for both, and two flyboard sessions are $178. Jet ski prices are for early-morning and midday slots; afternoon slots cost more.

Can a 15-year-old do the jet ski, parasailing or flyboard?

Parasailing, yes: the minimum age is 15. The jet ski only as a passenger, since drivers must be 16 or older. The flyboard, no: riders must be 16. A 15-year-old can also wakeboard, and the donut ride takes riders from 12.

Which one is best for non-swimmers?

The jet ski. Everyone wears a life jacket, the instructor leads the ride, and non-swimmers can take part. For parasailing and the flyboard, tell us when booking and we check with the base before you pay.

Is the flyboard hard for a first-timer?

It takes the most effort of the three, but no experience is needed: the team gives a safety briefing and tips, and an instructor runs the 30-minute session. Riders must be 16 or older and weigh up to about 120 kg. Expect to spend part of the session finding your balance; that is the point of it.

What if my partner wants the jet ski and I want the flyboard?

Book the package: your flyboard session, a 30-minute break, then a 30-minute jet ski ride to the Burj Al Arab, $168 in all. The jet ski takes two, so your partner rides it with you; if you both want to fly, add a second flyboard session at $89.
