A Dubai brunch is a fixed-price, all-you-can-eat lunch of about three hours, usually 1-4 PM, with a choice of drinks package. Soft packages start at about AED 200, house drinks run AED 300-460 and premium AED 400-700. This guide explains how it works, which day to pick now that Saturday is the busiest, the dress code, the alcohol rules, whether it is worth it, and how our Marina yacht party ($99, 21+) can follow it.

Five kinds of brunch, and who they suit
#1
The hotel buffet brunch
The classic: live cooking stations, carving boards, seafood, sushi and a dessert room, all in one hotel restaurant, with a drinks package on top. It is the easiest format for a mixed group, because everyone finds something, and many hotels have children's prices or a kids' club. It is also the biggest meal, so skip breakfast.
#2
The restaurant sharing-plates brunch
Instead of a buffet, dishes are brought to the table in rounds, so the food is hotter and the room is quieter. The price is often higher than a mid-range hotel brunch, and portions are controlled. It suits a smaller group that cares more about the menu than about the volume of choice.
#3
The pool or beach brunch
Food and drinks come with pool or beach access, often with a DJ, so the afternoon becomes a pool day. In the heat of May to September it is the only brunch that makes sense outdoors, and you pay for the setting. Check the dress code and whether sunbeds are included before you book.
#4
The rooftop and party brunch
The loudest format: a DJ, a rooftop or lounge with a skyline, and drinks that start early. It is closer to a daytime party than to a lunch, and the food matters less than the room. It suits people in their twenties and thirties who want a lively afternoon, and it is the wrong choice for a quiet family meal.
#5
Then the evening on the water
Brunch ends about 4 PM, and our Marina yacht party boards at 8:30 PM, so there is time to rest between them. It is $99 for four hours with a live DJ, a live BBQ and unlimited water, soft drinks and selected juices. It is a party cruise, not a drinks package, and outside food and drinks are not allowed.
Dubai brunch explained: the short answer
A Dubai brunch is a fixed-price, all-you-can-eat lunch of about three hours, usually 1-4 PM, with a choice of drinks package. It is not a plate of eggs at 10 AM: it is a long, social weekend meal, closer to a party lunch. You pay per person, pick a package (soft, house or premium), and eat and drink as much as you like within the time. Prices start at about AED 200 (about $55) for a soft package and rise to AED 500-700 or more for premium.
The tradition began on Fridays, when Friday was the weekend. The UAE weekend now runs Saturday and Sunday for government offices and many employers, with Friday a shorter working day, so Saturday is now the busiest brunch day, while Friday brunches carry on. Check the day on the venue's own page.
The rest of this guide explains how it works, what the packages cost, the alcohol rules for visitors, what to wear and how to decide whether a brunch is worth the price.
How a brunch works, step by step
Most brunches follow one pattern, whether the food comes from a buffet or to the table.
- Book ahead. Saturday slots at popular venues fill days in advance. Many ask for a deposit or full payment at booking.
- Arrive on time. The package runs for a fixed window, and the clock starts at the session time, not when you sit down.
- Choose a package. Soft, house or premium; everyone at the table usually has to take the same one.
- Eat and drink within the window. Food is a buffet or served in rounds, and drinks are poured or refilled until the session ends.
- Check the price. Some listings exclude VAT and service charge; the total at the end may be higher than the headline number.
Sessions usually start at 12:30 or 1 PM and end at 4 PM, though some venues run later sessions. If you are planning a day around it, see Dubai weekend and opening hours for what else is open.
Packages and prices
Prices vary by venue, by day and by season, so use the table as a rough map of the market rather than a quote.
| Package | What it covers | Typical price per person |
|---|---|---|
| Soft | The food, with soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea | About AED 200-370 |
| House | The food, plus house wine, beer and selected spirits and cocktails | About AED 300-460 |
| Premium or sparkling | The food, plus sparkling wine and a wider list of drinks | About AED 400-570 |
| Bubbly or luxury | Champagne and premium labels, usually at top hotels | About AED 500-700, above AED 800 at the very top |
| Children | Food and soft drinks; often a flat price or free for young children | Ask the venue |

Alcohol rules for visitors
Alcohol is served only in licensed venues, mainly hotels, licensed restaurants and clubs. The legal drinking age is 21, and venues may ask to see your passport or ID. Being drunk in a public place, or drinking outside a licensed venue, is an offence, and drink-driving carries a zero-tolerance rule, so take a taxi or the Metro home.
That is the general picture, not legal advice. The Dubai Police and the official tourism channels have the final word, and alcohol laws in Dubai for tourists goes through where you can drink and what to avoid. During Ramadan, brunches are normally not held in the usual way, so check each venue; Ramadan in Dubai for tourists explains the change.
What to wear, who to bring and when to go
Smart casual is the usual dress: no beachwear in the dining room, and a shirt or dress with closed or smart sandals is fine. Pool and beach brunches accept swimwear in the pool area, with a cover-up elsewhere. The Dubai dress code for tourists covers the general picture.
Children are welcome at many hotel brunches, often at a lower price, and a soft package suits non-drinkers; you pay for the buffet, not the alcohol. From November to March a terrace brunch is pleasant. From May to September choose an air-conditioned room or a pool brunch. Arrive 15 minutes early, eat first, and pace the drinks, because a three-hour session and the afternoon heat are a combination to respect.
Choosing a brunch: five questions
Decide these five things and the shortlist makes itself.
- Who is coming? Families and mixed groups suit a hotel buffet; couples and friends can pick a sharing-plates or rooftop brunch.
- Will you drink? If not, take the soft package, or skip brunch and have an à la carte lunch.
- What is the season? November to March suits terraces; May to September suits air-conditioned rooms and pools.
- How will you get home? Venues sit in hotels on the Palm, in the Marina and in Downtown. Plan a taxi or the Metro back; taxis and Careem in Dubai lists the fares and apps, and how to get around Dubai the rest.
- What comes after? A brunch ends about 4 PM and leaves you full, so plan a rest or a walk by the water, not a tour.
Is it worth it?
It depends on how you eat and drink. For a group that will use the full three hours, three or four drinks each and a large meal, a house package is good value, and a hotel buffet is the easiest format. For a non-drinker, a soft package is simply an expensive buffet lunch, and an à la carte lunch at the same hotel often costs less.
Brunch is also the opposite of a cheap day: for the other end of the scale, see cheap eats in Dubai. If you want the party without the free-flow, a night on the water does the job. Our Marina yacht party is $99 per person for four hours, 9 PM to 1 AM, with boarding at 8:30 PM at the pier behind Al Majara Tower, a live DJ and a live BBQ. It is strictly 21+ with an original ID or passport, and the drinks in the ticket are water, soft drinks and selected juices. Full prepayment confirms your place. The yacht party dress code and rules say what to wear.
For something calmer, the one-hour shared yacht tour is from $32, and Burj Khalifa tickets are from $55 for the day after. Keep water sports and boat rides for before the brunch or another day, not after it.
