How much does XLine in Dubai Marina cost?

AED 699 for adults and AED 499 for ages 12 to 16 at the time of writing, which is about $190 and $135. The ticket covers one ride and includes digital photos and video; a 360-degree video is about AED 150 extra. Tickets are non-refundable, so check the date and the limits first.

XLine and four ways to build a Marina day around it

XLine itself: 1 km from 170 m up #1
XLine booth at Dubai Marina Mall; open 10:00 AM-12:20 PM and 2:00-5:00 PM Adrenaline seekers aged 12-65, 45-100 kg

XLine itself: 1 km from 170 m up

One ride, roughly a minute long, from a platform 170 m above the Marina at up to 80 km/h, face down in a Superman harness. The adult ticket is AED 699 and includes safety equipment, parking and digital photos and video. It is thrilling and short, so go for the view of the towers below you and the speed, not for the length of the ride.

Lunch on Marina Walk #2
Marina Walk beside Dubai Marina Mall and the Pier 7 tower Between the 12:20 PM and 2:00 PM gap in the ride hours

Lunch on Marina Walk

The ride hours break from 12:20 to 2:00 PM, which is the natural time for lunch. The promenade beside Marina Mall runs along the water with cafes and restaurants, and the round Pier 7 tower stands beside the mall. Book a morning ride, eat here, and the afternoon is free.

A calm hour on the water: our shared yacht tour #3
Marina pier, Level P, Al Majara Tower; hourly departures Seeing the same towers at sea level, from $32 per person

A calm hour on the water: our shared yacht tour

After the speed of the zipline, a 1-hour cruise on a premium yacht gives you the Marina canal, JBR and Bluewaters, with a photo stop at Ain Dubai, which you look at from the water. Check-in is 20 minutes before departure, full pre-payment secures the seat and the yacht leaves strictly on time.

A faster loop: the 90-minute speedboat tour #4
Marina pier behind Al Majara Tower; up to nine departures a day, 9 AM-5 PM Guests who want speed on the water too, from $45

A faster loop: the 90-minute speedboat tour

An open shared speedboat takes up to 22 guests round JBR, Ain Dubai, Atlantis The Palm and the Burj Al Arab, with live commentary in English. It suits the same guests who like XLine, but check the limits first: pregnant women and children under 5 are not permitted, nor guests aged 65 and over.

Longer and faster: Jebel Jais, if you have a day #5
Ras Al Khaimah, roughly a 90-minute to two-hour drive from Dubai Thrill-seekers who want a much longer ride

Longer and faster: Jebel Jais, if you have a day

The Jebel Jais zipline in the Hajar Mountains is far longer than XLine, at nearly 3 km, and faster, at up to about 150 km/h. It is also a half-day trip with a long drive. If the Marina is your base and the clock is tight, XLine is the practical choice; if you have a car or a free day, Jais is the bigger ride. Check price and rules with the operator.

XLine Dubai Marina: the short answer

XLine costs AED 699 for adults and AED 499 for ages 12 to 16, at the time of writing. For that you get one ride of 1 km, launched from 170 m above Dubai Marina, at up to 80 km/h, on one of two lines that run side by side, so two people can ride at once. Photos and digital video are included, a 360-degree video costs about AED 150 extra, and the adult ticket lists parking. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, so check the rules below before you pay.

You must be 12 to 65, at least 130 cm tall and between 45 and 100 kg. The ride is roughly a minute long, which makes it expensive per minute and strong on memory: it suits people who want one big adrenaline hit, not a day out. Prices change, so confirm on the operator's booking page.

The rules: age, height, weight and health

The limits are strict and applied at check-in, and tickets are non-refundable. These are the operator's published rules at the time of writing.

RuleRequirement
Age12 to 65; parental consent in person for anyone under 18
HeightAt least 130 cm
Weight45 to 100 kg
PregnancyNot allowed
HealthGood medical condition: no injury or condition that needs medical attention, and not under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or medication that impairs judgement
ClothingComfortable, modest clothing and closed shoes; no skirts, dresses or flip-flops
EyewearNo smart glasses or camera-enabled eyewear
PaperworkA signed waiver; ID at check-in for the ages 12-16 ticket

The operator has the final word at check-in. If you are close to 45 or 100 kg, ask before you pay.

Weight is the rule that catches people out. If one person in your group is over 100 kg or under 45 kg, that person cannot ride, and with a non-refundable ticket it is worth a message to the operator in advance. The age limits also run both ways: 12 is the minimum and 65 the maximum.

Sitting or Superman: how you ride

The operator's page describes a Superman harness: you hang face down, in the pose of a flying hero, with the Marina below you. That is the only position we have seen listed, so plan for it rather than for a seated ride. If you are nervous about a face-down start, ask the operator whether another position is offered before you book, because you cannot get your money back afterwards.

What changes in the Superman position is the view. Seated, you look ahead at the skyline; flying, you look down at the water, the boats and the tops of the towers, and that is the main reason to pay for it. The harness takes your weight, so nothing in the ride depends on strength, and safety equipment is part of the ticket.

Hours, check-in and how long it takes

XLine opens every day from 10:00 AM to 12:20 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with rides at 10-minute intervals. Timings change with the season, the weather and public holidays, and the operator announces closures on its social media, so check on the day. There is no evening ride, which means no sunset or night flight.

Check-in is at the XLine booth at Dubai Marina Mall, in the L2 parking area. Arrive early, sign the waiver and bring your passport or Emirates ID. The ride itself is roughly a minute, but with check-in, the harness and the briefing, plan on about an hour and a half in total. From the Metro, use DMCC or Sobha Realty and then the tram or a short taxi; our Metro guide has the stations, and the Dubai Marina area guide covers Marina Walk, JBR and the tram.

Is XLine worth it? An honest comparison

AED 699 is about $190, which is a lot for a ride of a minute. It is good value if you want the speed and the height and you are inside the age and weight limits. It is poor value if you mainly want to see Dubai Marina, because the same money buys many hours of sightseeing elsewhere.

Prices are approximate. The XLine figure is the operator's published ticket price at the time of writing.

For the price of one adult XLine ticket you could take close to six people on our 1-hour yacht tour. If that is the choice, the yacht is the better group activity and XLine is the better solo or pair thrill. If you want a bigger adrenaline hit than the Marina can give, read the guide to the Jebel Jais trip from Dubai before you decide, and adventure activities in Dubai ranks the options by thrill and price.

Who should skip XLine

XLine is a good ride for the right person and a poor use of AED 699 for the wrong one. It is not the right choice if any of these describe your group.

  • You are outside the limits. Under 12, over 65, shorter than 130 cm, or outside 45-100 kg, and with a non-refundable ticket there is no second chance at the booth.
  • You dislike heights or being strapped in. The ride starts 170 m above the Marina and runs to the end once you launch.
  • You are pregnant or have an injury or health condition that needs medical attention. The operator does not allow it, and your own doctor should have the last word.
  • You want sunset or night views. Rides stop at 5 PM, so a cruise or the Burj Khalifa deck is the better evening plan.
  • You are on a tight budget. One adult ticket pays for a family's worth of cruise seats, and the cruise gives you an hour, not a minute.

What to wear and what to bring

Dress for a harness and a wind at speed, not for a photo shoot.

  • Closed shoes that fit snugly, with no sandals, flip-flops or slip-ons.
  • Trousers, shorts or leggings that do not ride up; no skirts or dresses, which the operator does not allow.
  • Hair tied back and no loose jewellery or items in your pockets; leave them in the hotel or the car.
  • Your ID: a passport or Emirates ID, and for the ages 12-16 ticket the ID is checked at check-in.
  • Sun protection and water for the walk to the mall and any wait before your slot.
  • A light breakfast, not a heavy meal, if you are nervous in a harness.

Best time to go and how to pair it with the Marina

Because the ride hours end at 5 PM, the choice is between a morning slot and an afternoon slot. From November to March the weather is mild and the view is clear. From May to September the 2 to 5 PM block is the hottest part of the day, so choose the 10 AM slot, and bring water for the wait.

The Marina is built for combos. Ride in the morning, lunch on Marina Walk in the midday gap, and book an evening on the water: our shared yacht tour leaves hourly from the pier at Al Majara Tower (what the $32 seat includes), the 90-minute speedboat tour from $45 covers JBR, Ain Dubai, Atlantis and the Burj Al Arab, and the yacht party at $99 is a 21+ night cruise from 9 PM to 1 AM. How to get to the Marina yacht pier has the walking route, and sunset yacht cruises list the times by month.
