Four ways to drive fast near Dubai

Dubai Kartdrome outdoor circuit #1
Dubai Autodrome; 1.2 km, 17 corners, a tunnel and a bridge Teenagers and adults who want real lap time

Dubai Kartdrome outdoor circuit

The outdoor circuit is sanctioned by the FIA and floodlit, and it is open every day from 9 AM to midnight. Drivers must be 13 or older. A session is 15 or 20 minutes, the first 3 minutes at a paced speed and the rest on your own. Walk-in sessions are listed at AED 160 or AED 199, and the 9 AM slot is AED 99 online.

Dubai Kartdrome indoor circuit #2
Dubai Autodrome; 620 m, up to ten drivers at once Children from age 7, and anyone avoiding the midday sun

Dubai Kartdrome indoor circuit

The indoor track takes drivers from age 7 who are at least 1 m 25 cm tall. A session is 15 minutes, with 3 minutes paced and 12 on your own. Walk-in prices are AED 150 or AED 160, subject to availability. Opening hours are shorter on Monday to Thursday, from 2 PM to 10 PM, so check the day before you go.

Yas Kartzone in Abu Dhabi #3
Yas Island; 1 km track with three layouts Families with children aged 3 to 12, on a Yas Island day

Yas Kartzone in Abu Dhabi

Yas Kartzone lists sessions for every age: a 5-minute electric kart for ages 3 to 6 at AED 55, a 12-minute junior kart for ages 8 to 12 at AED 95 and a 15-minute adult kart from age 13 at AED 140. Online sessions need a membership card. It is about a day trip away from Dubai, so pair it with a Yas Island plan.

Quad bikes on the dunes #4
Lahbab Desert, on our evening quad safari Visitors who want to drive for a full hour, not 15 minutes

Quad bikes on the dunes

A kart is fast on a track. A quad bike is slower, but you drive it over dunes, for a full hour on our evening quad safari, followed by sandboarding, a camel ride, a BBQ dinner and shows. It is from $70 per person on a bike shared by two, or $105 on your own quad, with hotel pickup and no prepayment.

Go-karting in Dubai: the short answer

The main place to go karting in Dubai is the Kartdrome at Dubai Autodrome, which has one outdoor and one indoor circuit and sells walk-in sessions for AED 150 to AED 199. The Autodrome's own website lists a 9 AM session for AED 99, online booking only. The outdoor circuit takes drivers from age 13. The indoor circuit takes drivers from age 7 who are at least 1 m 25 cm tall. The Autodrome's page does not list a driving licence requirement, but every driver must show a valid ID.

All figures in this guide are from the Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina Circuit websites, read on 2 November 2026. Prices and opening hours change, and the Autodrome warns that times can change because of private bookings, so check the booking page for your date.

Outdoor or indoor: the Kartdrome compared

The two circuits are different experiences. Outdoor is longer and faster, and indoor is shorter and open to younger drivers.

The outdoor circuit is floodlit, so an evening session is possible in the hot months. The indoor circuit is the choice for children and for anyone who wants shade at midday. If you are choosing for a group with a mixed age range, the indoor circuit is the only one where the 7-year-old can drive with the adults.

Prices, booking and the rules

The cheapest way to drive is the 9 AM session, which is AED 99 and can only be booked online. The Autodrome limits it to a maximum of 34 karts outdoors and 15 indoors, so book ahead. Walk-in prices are higher and depend on availability. These are the rules we found on the page:

  • Arrive 60 minutes before your session. The Autodrome's page asks for this.
  • No refunds. Bookings cannot be refunded, cancelled or rescheduled once made, so be sure of your date.
  • Bring ID. All drivers must show a valid ID. A driving licence is not mentioned as a requirement.
  • Under 18. A parent or legal guardian must sign the disclaimer at registration.
  • Annual membership is AED 15 for new registrations and renewals.
  • Happy Mondays. The second session is 50% off, for walk-in guests only.
  • Gloves. Disposable gloves are sold on site. The page does not list a clothing rule; our advice is closed shoes and clothes that do not catch on the pedals.

The Autodrome's phone number is 800 AUTODROME (288 637 663), and the karting line is 800 KARTING. If you ask about the 9 AM slot, ask whether it is open on the day you want.

Children and families: who can drive what

The published minimum age on the Kartdrome's own pages is 7 for the indoor circuit and 13 for the outdoor one, so a child under 7 cannot join a normal session there. Children from age 7 can also have a birthday party on the indoor circuit; the Autodrome says it has a variety of packages, but it does not list prices, so ask by email or phone.

The Kartdrome also runs a race series for children aged 5 to 8, called the Bambino Cup, with an entry fee of AED 495. It is a race series for young racers, not a tourist session. For younger children who just want to drive a kart, Yas Kartzone in Abu Dhabi is a better match, with the sessions below. Our guide to Dubai with kids has more ideas by age, and the teenagers guide covers what older children enjoy.

Groups of 12 or more: race formats

For a group, the Autodrome sells race formats instead of single sessions. They are priced by quote, and the minimum cost is based on 12 drivers. The formats listed on the Kartdrome's corporate page are these:

FormatGuestsWhat happensTotal time
Mini-Prix12 or more10-minute qualifying, 15-minute final sprint; shares the track with Arrive and Drive sessions2 hours
Grand-Prix12 or moreAs above, with a 10-minute semi-final added2 hours
Super-Prix12 or more15-minute sessions for qualifying, semi-final and final2 hours
Endurance race30 or moreTeams of 2 to 4 drivers, 10-minute practice, 10-minute qualifying, 60-minute race, with the track to yourselves3 hours

A group race suits a birthday party, a company outing or a big family. If your group is smaller than 12, the arrive-and-drive sessions are simpler, and you can book several drivers in the same time slot.

Yas Kartzone in Abu Dhabi: the other big track

Yas Kartzone is on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, a 1 km track with three layouts. Yas Marina Circuit's website lists daily public sessions from 9 AM to midnight, and these session prices when we read it:

Yas Island is a long day from Dubai. Our Yas Island guide explains what fits in a day trip, and our Abu Dhabi city tour from $45 per person covers the mosque, the Mandir and the Heritage Village, not karting, so combine them only on separate days.

If you want to drive something else

A kart session is 15 to 20 minutes. If you want more time at the wheel, our evening quad bike safari includes a full hour on a self-drive quad over the dunes, from $70 per person on a shared bike or $105 on your own quad. The full-day desert safari has a 30-minute quad ride in its $65 option. For speed on water, our jet ski ride to the Burj Al Arab is from $79 per jet ski for 30 minutes.
