A Dubai honeymoon is five days, four moments, and pools and dinners in between: the sunrise balloon over the desert reserve ($275 per person, 40-70 minutes in the air, breakfast at a Bedouin camp after), a private yacht at sunset from the Marina (from AED 400 per hour for a boat that is yours), the desert evening with sunset on the dunes and dinner at the camp (from $45), and two city evenings — the Fountain in Downtown and the Palm after dark. Here is the order that makes them work, the boats that suit two people, the etiquette and what it all costs.

Tour on this route: Sunrise Hot Air Balloon in Dubai — From $275 per person, 4-5 hours.
How many days do you need for a Dubai honeymoon?
Five days covers the four moments with a pool day between each: the $275 sunrise balloon, a private sunset yacht from AED 400 per hour (from AED 1,200 for the 3-hour evening on the smallest boat), the desert evening from $45 per person and two city evenings in Downtown and on the Palm. Three days works if the balloon morning and the desert afternoon share a day.

The six honeymoon moments, ranked
#1
The sunrise balloon
Forty to seventy minutes at 2,000-4,000 feet as the light comes up over the dunes, with gazelles, oryx and camels below and the Hajar Mountains on the horizon, then a vintage Land Rover to a private Bedouin camp for breakfast, a camel ride and a falcon photo. Baskets sell out 1-2 weeks ahead; a 30% deposit holds yours.
#2
Your own yacht at sunset
A 31 ft boat with a captain is from AED 400 per hour, minimum 3 hours: the Marina canal, JBR, Bluewaters and Ain Dubai in the golden light, the Palm Jumeirah lagoon for a swim at anchor, and the skyline lit on the way home. Fuel, crew, water, ice and soft drinks are included; a cake or dinner is arranged in advance.
#3
Dinner in the desert
The cheapest of the four moments and the one most couples rank second: dune bashing at whatever intensity you ask for, sandboarding, the camel ride as the sand turns red, then dinner in air-conditioned tents with the fire show, Tanoura and belly dance. Seven hours door to door, hotel pickup, paid on the day of the tour.
#4
A Downtown evening
The Dubai Fountain plays on Burj Lake about every 30 minutes from 6 PM and costs nothing; a table at Souk Al Bahar with the lake in front and Burj Khalifa lit behind it is the city dinner of the trip. At the Top starts from $55 per person with us and costs more at sunset; Burj Park below gives the same photo free.
#5
The Palm after dark
Watch the sun go from Palm West Beach, cross to The Pointe for the Palm Fountain shows, which are free in the evenings with Atlantis lit across the water, and go up The View at The Palm on the 52nd floor for about AED 70-100 if you want the whole island from above. Taxis to the Marina are 20-30 minutes.
#6
Burj Al Arab from the sand
The sail-shaped hotel is photographed best from the public beach beside it as the sun drops behind it, with nothing to pay and nobody to book. Souk Madinat Jumeirah next door has restaurant terraces on the canals with the same view for dinner, and Kite Beach is a short walk up the coast for the afternoon before.
The honeymoon in one paragraph, then the plan
Five days, four moments, and the rest is pools and dinners. The four: the sunrise balloon over the desert reserve at $275 per person, a private yacht at sunset from the Marina at from AED 400 per hour for the whole boat (30 boats to choose from), the desert evening with sunset on the dunes and dinner at the camp from $45, and two city evenings — the Fountain in Downtown and the Palm after dark. For two people the balloon and the desert come to about $640; the smallest boat is from AED 1,200 for the 3-hour sunset slot.
The order matters more than the choice: the balloon on a rested morning early in the week, so a weather cancellation can be rebooked; the desert on a day with nothing before it; the yacht on the last evening so the trip ends on the water. Everything below is built for two — timings, the boats that suit a couple, the etiquette and the budget.
When to come: the months that make the difference
November to March is the honeymoon season: 20-30°C by day, 14-20°C at night, the sea at 20-24°C, sunset around 5:30 PM in December, and the balloon flying at its most reliable. April and October still work with an early balloon and a pool in the afternoon. From May to September the days are 38-45°C: the yacht at sunset and the desert evening still run, the balloon depends on the weather (ask us for your dates), and hotel rates are at their lowest of the year — a real trade if the pool and the sea are the point.
| Months | Days | Sea | For a couple |
|---|---|---|---|
| November-March | 20-30°C | 20-24°C | Everything works; the balloon and the sunset boat sell out first, so book them 1-2 weeks ahead |
| April and October | 30-38°C | 26-30°C | Balloon at dawn, pool by noon, the yacht and the desert after 4 PM |
| May-September | 38-45°C | Up to 33°C | Sunset yacht and the desert evening; the balloon on request; the best hotel rates of the year |
Two dates to check for your year: Ramadan, which moves about 11 days earlier every year and pauses live music and loud entertainment (the safari and the yachts still run, with dinners and shows after iftar), and the last two weeks of December, when hotels and tours are at their busiest. Month by month, with sunset times, in the best time to visit Dubai.
Where to stay as a couple
Palm Jumeirah is the honeymoon default: resort beaches, pools and the sea in the window, with Palm West Beach and The Pointe for evenings, at the cost of a taxi for everything else (20-30 minutes and AED 35-50 to the Marina). Dubai Marina and JBR put the yacht pier, the beach and the promenade within a walk or a tram ride; the sunset boat is minutes from most hotels. Downtown is for couples who want the tower in the window and the Fountain after dinner, with Business Bay next door usually 10-20% cheaper for the same skyline. Jumeirah — Burj Al Arab, Sunset Beach, Souk Madinat — is the quiet villa-and-beach version.
Our pickups reach all of them: the balloon collects you before dawn anywhere in Dubai city, the safari from any hotel in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman. The where to stay guide compares the areas properly, and the best things to do for couples is the long list to pick extras from.
The 5-day plan for two
One early morning, one long evening, and the sea on the last day.
- Day 1 stays local so that jet lag does not spoil the good days. If you want to be on the water at once, the 1-hour shared cruise from $32 per person leaves hourly from the marina pier behind Al Majara Tower and is the preview of the private evening on day 5.
- Day 2 is the Downtown evening. At the Top on levels 124-125 starts from $55 per person with us (SKY on Level 148 from $115) and costs more at sunset; Burj Park below is free with the classic view. The Fountain plays about every 30 minutes from 6 PM, and a table at Souk Al Bahar with the lake in view is the honeymoon dinner.
- Day 3 is the balloon, and the afternoon after it is deliberately empty: you will have been up since before dawn, and the pool is the right answer.
- Day 4 is the desert, with nothing planned before it, so the sunset on the dunes and the camp dinner are the whole day.
- Day 5 ends on the water. Sunset is the most requested charter slot; book it before the hotel if need be. The 3-hour route runs the Marina canal, JBR, Bluewaters and Ain Dubai, then the Palm Jumeirah lagoon with a swim stop in daylight, and comes home with the skyline lit.
| Day | Morning | Afternoon | Evening |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arrive, settle in, pool | Marina Walk and JBR, the footbridge to Bluewaters for the Ain Dubai photo | Sunset on the beach, dinner on The Walk |
| 2 | Jumeirah: Burj Al Arab from Sunset Beach, Souk Madinat | Dubai Mall and Burj Park | The Fountain from 6 PM, dinner at Souk Al Bahar with the tower lit |
| 3 | Sunrise balloon: pre-dawn pickup, 40-70 minutes aloft, Bedouin breakfast, back by late morning | Sleep, pool | Al Seef and Old Dubai at dusk: the abra for AED 1-2, dinner by the Creek |
| 4 | Late breakfast, beach | Desert safari pickup: dune bashing, sandboarding, sunset and the camel ride | Al Khayma camp: dinner, henna, the fire show; back late |
| 5 | Palm Jumeirah: The View at The Palm, Palm West Beach | Rest before the boat | Private sunset yacht from the Marina pier: 3 hours to the Palm lagoon and back after dark |
Short on days? The balloon morning and the desert afternoon can share one day — dawn in the air, sunset on the sand — which turns this into a 4-day plan. The free SB AI planner lays either version out on the map with our tours already placed.
The sunrise balloon: how the morning runs
Pickup is before dawn from any hotel in Dubai city, in an air-conditioned vehicle. At the take-off site in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve you watch the balloons inflate, get the safety briefing from the GCAA-licensed pilots and lift off as the light comes: 40-70 minutes in the air at 2,000-4,000 feet, gazelles, oryx and camels below, the Hajar Mountains on the horizon and Wi-Fi in the basket for the live photo. After landing a vintage Land Rover or an SUV takes you to a private Bedouin camp for a gourmet breakfast with veg and non-veg options, a short camel ride and a falcon photo, and every guest gets an electronic flight certificate signed by the pilot. The whole outing is 4-5 hours.
The booking rules that matter on a honeymoon: $275 per person, a 30% deposit confirms the flight, and the baskets sell out 1-2 weeks ahead, so fix the date as soon as the flights are booked. Bring a passport or a clear copy for the flight manifest, wear layers and closed shoes because the desert is cold before sunrise, and know that flights are weather-dependent: if the pilots cancel, you get a full refund or a new date, which is why the balloon sits early in the week. Not suitable under 7, over 80, in pregnancy or with heart and back conditions; guests over 120 kg may be charged an extra fee. The photographs, the quiet and the proposal question are in the most romantic morning in Dubai.
Your own yacht at sunset: which boat, how many hours
A private charter is the honeymoon splurge that costs less than it sounds: prices are per hour for the whole boat, with the captain, crew, fuel, water, ice and soft drinks included, and for two people the small boats are the right size. Sunset is the slot to book first.
| Boat | Size | From, AED per hour | Minimum | The sunset evening |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sealine | 31 ft, up to 6 guests | 400 | 3 hours | From AED 1,200: the Palm lagoon route with a swim stop |
| Orion | 48 ft, one cabin, up to 12 | 800 | 2 hours | From AED 1,600: the Marina, JBR, Bluewaters and Ain Dubai |
| Misty | 50 ft, one cabin, up to 12 | 1,000 | 2 hours | From AED 2,000: the same loop with more deck to yourselves |
| Mr & Mrs Smith | 98 ft, three cabins, up to 12 | 2,800 | 3 hours | From AED 8,400, out of Dubai Harbour: the superyacht version |
Retail rates for the whole boat. Catering — a cake, a live BBQ with a chef, Arabic platters — is added in advance for a fee.
The routes by length: 2 hours is the Marina canal, JBR, Bluewaters and Ain Dubai; 3 hours adds the Palm Jumeirah lagoon with a swim stop at anchor in daylight (the Coast Guard closes swimming around 7 PM in summer and 5 PM in winter); 4 hours adds Burj Al Arab and Atlantis from the sea. You bring your own drinks — alcohol is allowed on board for guests of 21 and over — and dry food such as sandwiches with disposable plates; shoes come off at boarding and there is no smoking inside.
How it is booked: send us the date, the hours and the occasion on WhatsApp, and we check the Sealine, the Orion or the Mr & Mrs Smith with the marina and confirm the time and the total before any payment. Boarding is at the marina lounge on the marina level of Al Majara Tower 20-30 minutes before departure — the Mr & Mrs Smith leaves from Dubai Harbour next to Bluewaters — with a copy of a passport or Emirates ID on each phone; a security pre-authorisation of AED 2,000-15,000 is held on a card at check-in and released after the trip. Extending on the day is possible if the yacht is free afterwards and is paid to the captain — a good reason to take the sunset slot itself rather than the one before it. Sunset times by month and the shared-versus-private question are in sunset yacht cruise in Dubai Marina.
Dinner in the desert: the safari evening for two
The full-day desert safari is the evening most couples rank second only to the balloon, and it is the cheapest of the four moments: from $45 per person, 7 hours door to door, pickup from your hotel in an air-conditioned 4x4, no prepayment — you agree the date on WhatsApp, pay on the day, and cancel free up to 24 hours before.
The shape of it: 45-60 minutes out to the Lahbab Red Dunes, 30-45 minutes of dune bashing (ask for the gentle setting if one of you would rather look than shout), sandboarding, then the slow hour — the camel ride and the falcon photos as the sand turns red at sunset, which is the photograph of the honeymoon. After dark, Al Khayma camp: air-conditioned tents, a BBQ buffet with vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, unlimited water, soft drinks, tea and Arabic coffee, henna, a shisha station, the fire show, Tanoura and belly dance. Between December and February bring a light jacket; the desert cools fast after sunset. The $65 option adds a 30-minute quad bike ride, and the VIP buggy for the two of you is $240 per person.
City evenings, the etiquette, and what it costs for two
Downtown: the Fountain on Burj Lake plays about every 30 minutes from 6 PM and is free; Souk Al Bahar and the Opera district sit on the lake, the Dubai Water Canal's mechanical waterfall under the Sheikh Zayed Road bridge is lit at night, and the Business Bay promenade is the quiet walk after dinner. The Palm: sunset from Palm West Beach, the free Palm Fountain shows at The Pointe, and The View at The Palm on the 52nd floor for about AED 70-100 if you want the island from above. Jumeirah: Burj Al Arab photographed from Sunset Beach as the sun goes, then Souk Madinat Jumeirah for dinner by the canals.
Dubai is relaxed about couples and strict about a few things. Holding hands is fine; anything more affectionate in public is not. Alcohol is served in licensed venues — hotels, licensed restaurants and bars — and on licensed boats, never on the beach or in the street; the detail is in alcohol laws for tourists. Shoulders and knees covered is the polite standard in malls and Old Dubai, swimwear stays at the pool and the beach, and tipping is not expected, though 10-15% in a restaurant without a service charge is normal.
| For two | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sunrise balloon | $550 | 30% deposit; sells out 1-2 weeks ahead |
| Desert safari evening | $90, or $130 with the quad bikes | Paid on the day; free cancellation up to 24 hours before |
| Private sunset yacht, Sealine, 3 hours | From AED 1,200 | Whole boat; captain, crew, fuel and soft drinks included |
| The shared yacht hour instead | $64 | Hourly departures, prepaid, from $32 per person |
| At the Top, Burj Khalifa | From $110 with us | More at sunset; we book the timed slot |
| The View at The Palm | About AED 140-200 | 52nd floor, sunset slots go first |
| Taxis over five days | About AED 300-500 | AED 50-70 Downtown-Marina, AED 35-50 Marina-Palm |
Our tours are exact prices; the rest are third-party prices to treat as budgets.
If you have three days rather than five: keep the balloon and the sunset boat, fold the desert into the balloon day, and do Downtown on the evening you arrive. What never gets dropped is the sunset slot on the yacht — it is the first thing to book and the last thing you will do in Dubai.
FAQ
How many days do you need for a Dubai honeymoon?
Five days covers the four moments with a pool day between each: the $275 sunrise balloon, a private sunset yacht from AED 400 per hour (from AED 1,200 for the 3-hour evening on the smallest boat), the desert evening from $45 per person and two city evenings in Downtown and on the Palm. Three days works if the balloon morning and the desert afternoon share a day.
How much does a Dubai honeymoon cost for two?
Our four moments for two come to about $640 plus the boat: the balloon $550, the desert evening $90 and a private 3-hour sunset charter on a 31 ft boat from AED 1,200, or the shared yacht hour at $64 instead. On top of that budget the hotel, about AED 300-500 in taxis over five days, and tickets such as At the Top from $55 per person with us. The desert and the shared hour are the cheapest big memories in the city.
Is the hot air balloon in Dubai romantic?
It is the morning most couples name as the highlight: a pre-dawn pickup, 40-70 minutes in near silence at 2,000-4,000 feet over the desert reserve as the sun comes up, then breakfast at a private Bedouin camp with a camel ride and a falcon photo, and a flight certificate signed by the pilot. Book 1-2 weeks ahead with a 30% deposit and dress in layers — dawn in the desert is cold.
Can we rent a private yacht for just two people in Dubai?
Yes. The Sealine, a 31 ft boat with a captain, is from AED 400 per hour with a 3-hour minimum, so the sunset evening is from AED 1,200 for the whole boat; the 48 ft Orion with a cabin is from AED 800 per hour for 2 hours. Fuel, crew, water, ice and soft drinks are included, you bring your own drinks, and a cake or dinner is arranged in advance. Book the sunset slot first — it goes early.
What is the most romantic time of year to visit Dubai?
November to March: 20-30°C days, cool nights of 14-20°C, the sea at 20-24°C and the balloon flying at its most reliable, with sunset around 5:30 PM in December for the yacht and the desert. Summer, from May to September, is 38-45°C but has the lowest hotel rates; the sunset yacht and the desert evening still work, and the balloon depends on the weather.
Can couples hold hands or kiss in public in Dubai?
Holding hands is fine; kissing and anything more affectionate in public is not, in malls, on the beach and on the street alike. Alcohol is served only in licensed venues such as hotels, bars and restaurants and on licensed boats — a private yacht included, for guests of 21 and over — and never in public places. Shoulders and knees covered is the polite standard outside the beach.
Is a desert safari good for a honeymoon?
Yes — it is the evening most couples rank second only to the balloon. The full-day safari is 7 hours from $45 per person with hotel pickup: dune bashing at the intensity you ask for, sandboarding, the camel ride as the dunes turn red at sunset, then dinner in air-conditioned tents at Al Khayma with the fire show and dancing. No prepayment, and a light jacket for the camp from December to February.
