Left luggage at Dubai International costs AED 35 to 50 per bag for up to 12 hours, and it is open 24 hours in all three terminals. In town, storage apps place your bags in shops and hotels for roughly US$2.49 to US$4.90 per bag per day. This guide gives the airport counters and prices, what the counters will not accept, what we found about the Metro, how hotel storage works and what to do with bags on a tour day.

Five places to leave your bags in Dubai
#1
Terminal 3 left luggage (Emirates)
Dubai Airports lists the Terminal 3 counter, run by Emirates Left Luggage, at the arrival level near Exit 1, behind Boots Pharmacy. A standard bag is AED 35 for 12 hours or less and a larger or valuable bag AED 40. It is open 24 hours.
#2
Terminals 1 and 2 left luggage (dnata)
Dubai Airports lists dnata Baggage Services at both terminals: AED 40 for a standard bag and AED 50 for a larger or valuable one, for 12 hours or less, open 24 hours. The operator's page says it is walk-in only, cash in dirhams, with your passport and flight ticket at drop-off.
#3
A partner point at a Metro station
We found no luggage counters run by the Metro itself. The one Metro-linked option in our check is a partner point at Al Ghubaiba Metro Station listed by Radical Storage as open 24 hours, at AED 25 per day. Confirm the address and hours on the app before you set out.
#4
Shops and hotels through storage apps
Stasher, Radical Storage and LuggageHero list partner shops, hotel desks and lockers across the city. You book on a map in the app, pay by card and drop the bags at the partner. Opening hours differ by partner, so check the pick-up time against your plans.
#5
Your own hotel's bell desk
The simplest place to start is your own hotel. Ask at booking and again at check-in whether the hotel will hold bags before check-in or after checkout, whether it charges, until what time, and whether the room is locked. Policies differ from hotel to hotel, so get the answer in writing if the flight is tight.
Luggage storage in Dubai: the short answer
At Dubai International, left luggage costs AED 35 to AED 50 per bag for up to 12 hours, and the counters are open 24 hours in Terminals 1, 2 and 3. That is Dubai Airports' own listing. A standard bag is AED 35 in Terminal 3 and AED 40 in Terminals 1 and 2; a larger or valuable bag is AED 40 in Terminal 3 and AED 50 in Terminals 1 and 2.
In the city we did not find a citywide network of public lockers. You use your hotel, or a storage app that puts your bags in a partner shop or hotel desk, at roughly US$2.49 to US$4.90 per bag per day as the apps list it. Prices and partners change, so check the app or the counter before you rely on a figure.
Left luggage at Dubai International: terminals, prices and rules
Dubai Airports lists airport bag storage at all three terminals, open 24 hours. The price is per bag for 12 hours or less, and the cheaper rate applies to standard-size bags.
| Terminal | Run by | Where | Standard bag, 12 hours or less | Larger or valuable bag |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 | dnata Baggage Services | Arrival level, near Boots Pharmacy | AED 40 | AED 50 |
| Terminal 2 | dnata Baggage Services | Arrivals hall, near baggage reclaim opposite exit 2 | AED 40 | AED 50 |
| Terminal 3 | Emirates Left Luggage | Arrival level, near Exit 1, behind Boots Pharmacy | AED 35 | AED 40 |
Source: Dubai Airports' baggage page; the Terminal 2 location is from the operator's own page. Prices can change, so check at the counter.
The operator's information page for Terminals 1 and 2 adds the details that catch people out. The price is per item for each 12-hour block, and a bag collected late is charged double with no grace period. Payment is in cash in dirhams only, so keep a little cash; money in Dubai explains how much cash is worth carrying. At drop-off you show your passport and your flight ticket, and to collect you show the receipt and the same ID. Someone else can collect for you with the receipt and their own ID, and the operator suggests an authority letter. The page lists a maximum of 32 kg per piece and says bags can be kept for up to 90 days.
The same page says the counters do not take items with lithium batteries, such as laptops, power banks and e-cigarettes, or open shopping bags. Keep your power bank and laptop in your hand luggage, and pack the stored bag as a closed suitcase. Duty-free liquids are accepted if they are sealed in a leak-proof bag. Terminal 3 may apply its own rules, so ask at the counter. For the terminals themselves, including which airline uses which and where the Metro runs, see the Dubai airport terminals guide.
Storage apps in the city: prices and how they work
Storage apps are the answer when you check out at 11 AM and fly at 11 PM. They list local partners, such as hotel front desks, shops and small offices, and you pay by the bag. The three that came up in our check list their own prices; the table gives them side by side.
| App | Price as listed | How you pay | What it lists in Dubai |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radical Storage | AED 25 per day at every listed location | In the app; check the booking steps there | Nine points, among them Al Ghubaiba Metro Station, Jumeirah Beach, Sheikh Zayed Road and Bay Square |
| Stasher | From US$2.49 per bag per day | Online in advance; the Stasher Guarantee covers bags up to US$13,000 | Lockers, shops and hotels near Dubai Mall, the airport, Dubai Marina, the Burj Khalifa area, Al Rigga, Burjuman and Al Fahidi |
| LuggageHero | From US$1.49 per hour or US$4.90 per day, plus a US$1.60 service fee per bag | At pick-up by card or wallet; partner locations do not take cash | Shops, hotels and local businesses; a bag guarantee of up to US$500 |
Prices and partners are as listed on each service's own Dubai page; they change, so check before you book.
Three habits save trouble. Book a point that is open when you need it, because opening hours differ: a hotel desk may be open all night while a small shop closes in the evening. Check the exact drop-off and pick-up address in the booking, and read what the cover includes. And never leave passports, cash, medicines or electronics in a stored bag.
The Metro and luggage
We did not find luggage lockers or counters operated by Dubai Metro itself. The Metro-linked option we found is the Al Ghubaiba partner point listed by Radical Storage, and it is a private service.
The other half of the question is carrying bags on the train. Stasher says bags on the Dubai Metro or Tram must go in the dedicated luggage areas inside the cabins. A carry-on works on the Red Line, but the Dubai Metro guide advises that with two or more people and big suitcases, a taxi is usually the sensible choice, and taxis and Careem shows how to book one. Terminals 1 and 3 have a Metro station, and Terminal 2 does not.
Which option fits your day
The right choice depends on where you are when you need to drop the bags and how long you need to be without them.
| Situation | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You land early, check-in is at 3 PM | Hotel bell desk | Usually the simplest; ask at booking |
| You check out at noon, fly at midnight | Hotel bell desk or a storage app | A full day in town with free hands |
| You are on a long layover and want to leave DXB | DXB left luggage | AED 35-50 per bag; see the layover guide for what fits |
| You change hotels and have a gap in the middle | A storage app near your next hotel | Drop off at the first, collect on the way |
| You want to do a tour on arrival day | Hotel desk or DXB counter | Large bags do not go on the Abu Dhabi tour or the safari |
If you have a long gap between flights, can you leave the airport on a layover explains who may leave and when, and the one-day layover itinerary shows what fits in 8, 12 or 24 hours once you are free of your bags.
Bags and our tours
Most tours collect you from the hotel, which is when the question comes up. Large suitcases are not permitted in the vehicles of our Abu Dhabi city tour, so leave them at your Dubai hotel and take a day bag; the same rule is in our Grand Mosque guide. On the full-day desert safari the 4x4 has room for a small bag, so keep your suitcase out of the plan there too.
If your checkout is the same day as a tour, tell the hotel and tell us on WhatsApp when you book, so we can confirm a pickup time that suits your checkout. What to pack for Dubai lists what belongs in the day bag.

Is there luggage storage at Dubai Metro stations?
We found no luggage counters or lockers run by the Metro itself. One storage app, Radical Storage, lists a partner point at Al Ghubaiba Metro Station, open 24 hours at AED 25 per day. Bags on the Metro go in the luggage areas in the cabins.
What ID do I need to store a bag at DXB?
At Terminals 1 and 2, the operator's page asks for your passport and flight ticket at drop-off, and your receipt and the same ID to collect. Someone else can collect with the receipt, their own ID and, preferably, an authority letter.
Can I store a laptop or power bank at the airport?
Not at the Terminal 1 and 2 counters, whose operator does not accept items with lithium batteries such as laptops, power banks and e-cigarettes. Keep them in your hand luggage. Ask the Terminal 3 counter about its own rules.
How much do luggage storage apps cost in Dubai?
As listed on each service's page: Radical Storage AED 25 per day, Stasher from US$2.49 per bag per day, and LuggageHero US$1.49 per hour or US$4.90 per day plus a US$1.60 service fee per bag. Prices change, so check before booking.

Can I take a suitcase on a tour?
Not on the Abu Dhabi city tour: large suitcases are not permitted in the tour vehicles, so leave them at your Dubai hotel and bring a day bag. The desert safari 4x4 has room for a small bag only.
