Four Abu Dhabi stops to pair with teamLab Phenomena
#1
Louvre Abu Dhabi
Visit Abu Dhabi lists the Louvre adult ticket at AED 70, with free entry under 18, and closing on Mondays. It is open 10:00 to 18:30 Tuesday to Thursday and 10:00 to 20:30 Friday to Sunday, and a visit takes 2-3 hours. It is the easiest pairing: it closes earlier than teamLab, so see it first and go to teamLab later in the day.
#2
Zayed National Museum
The museum's own site lists it as open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, and the adult ticket is AED 70. Inside are six permanent galleries and Al Masar Garden. It is a calmer contrast to teamLab, which is dark and interactive, so in our view the two work well on the same day.
#3
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on our city tour
Entry to the mosque is free with online registration, and our Abu Dhabi City Tour handles that for you. Women need ankles, wrists and hair covered and men need shoulders and knees covered. The tour is from $45 per person and takes about 9 hours, but teamLab is not one of its stops, so choose the day you want.
#4
Qasr Al Watan
The presidential palace is a different part of the city, so treat it as a separate half day. Our Qasr Al Watan guide gives tickets from AED 65, from AED 30 for ages 4 to 17, and 2-3 hours for the visit. Knees and shoulders must be covered and flip-flops are not allowed.
teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi: the short answer
teamLab Phenomena is a 17,000-square-metre art museum on Saadiyat Island where light, sound, water and wind artworks react to people moving through them. According to teamLab's official site, it opened in April last year as a permanent museum in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Entry is by timed slot, tickets are sold online, and an adult ticket starts at AED 155 (about $42) on teamLab's ticket page as of 2 November 2026.
teamLab says to plan 1.5 to 3 hours. The museum is dark, partly wet and busy at peak times, and it has no map, no set route and no guide who explains the art. An app gives short descriptions if you want them. It suits people who like to wander and take photos, and it is not a quick stop on the way to somewhere else. From Dubai it is a full day trip, so plan the rest of the day around it.
Tickets and prices
The figures below come from teamLab's official ticket page on 2 November 2026. Prices are shown as "starting from", so the price on your date can be different. Check before you go.
| Ticket | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Regular (adult) | From AED 155 (about $42) | Timed slot; the listing includes free locker storage, parking and Wi-Fi |
| Child, aged 4 to 12 | From AED 55 (about $15) | Children under 4 are free; children aged 12 and under must stay with an adult |
| People of Determination | AED 50 at the gate (about $14) | A discounted rate sold at the gate; see teamLab's page for who qualifies |
| VIP shared experience | From AED 765 per guest (about $208) | Guided visit of about 3 hours with a VIP host, priority access and valet parking |
| VIP private experience | From AED 3,500 for up to 3 guests (about $953) | Private guided visit; each extra guest is charged on top |
Prices from teamLab's ticket page on 2 November 2026, shown as starting prices. Check before you go.
teamLab's page says lower prices may apply on weekdays between 10:00 and 12:59 in May and June. For UAE residents it lists an offer until 30 November: buy 4 regular tickets for the price of 3, with 25% off every further ticket, and original ID is needed for each guest.
Tickets are sold online and, if any are left, at the venue. teamLab recommends booking ahead, because gate sales are not guaranteed. Resale or transfer of tickets is not allowed. The Saadiyat Cultural District Museum Pass, which The National reported in April, covers three museums (Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi). teamLab is not on that list, so you buy its ticket separately.
Opening hours, last entry and the children's rule
teamLab's site lists the museum as open 10:00 to 22:00, with last entry at 20:00. Hours can change on holidays and special events, and teamLab publishes a calendar. One FAQ line on the same site says the last admission is one hour before closing, so do not arrive after 20:00 and plan to come much earlier.
If you arrive after the time on your ticket, entry on the same day is possible but depends on the staff and is not guaranteed. You cannot leave and come back in. One rule matters for families: from Monday to Thursday, teamLab lists the last entry for guests under 18 as 16:30. We did not see a similar limit for Friday to Sunday.
When the artworks are crowded, the teamLab app issues numbered tickets and tells you when your turn is near, so queues at the popular rooms are normal at busy times. Our advice, not a teamLab figure: choose the earliest slot you can, especially on a weekday, and do the popular rooms first.
What you see inside
teamLab's site lists more than 20 artworks. The museum is built around the idea that each work is created by its environment and changes when people enter it. Some of the works teamLab describes on its site:
- Biocosmos: teamLab says to experience it lying down or sitting. It shows the movement of hundreds of thousands of birds as one living form.
- Graffiti Nature and Beating Earth: you colour a creature on paper provided and it appears in the room and moves. Flowers bloom if people stay still, and petals scatter if people walk around.
- Sketch Factory: the creatures you draw can be made into a gift such as a badge, hand towel, T-shirt, tote bag or papercraft. Ask on site what it costs.
- Lamp Tea House: a tea house surrounded by water and floating lamps. Making a cup of tea creates an artwork, because the colours inside the tea change.
- Water areas: works such as Floating Microcosms and The Accumulation of Time use water. teamLab says most wet areas have little water, with one experience on level 1 where it reaches the knees. You can skip all wet areas. Towels are given after them and the water is chlorinated.
- Newer works: Massless Suns and Dark Suns and Megaliths in the Roots Garden opened on 16 December last year, according to Time Out Abu Dhabi, as listed on teamLab's news page.
- Food and shop: teamLab lists Anko, a Japanese patisserie, the Lamp Tea House and the Sketch Factory under its store and cafe.
What to wear, what to bring and the rules
These rules come from teamLab's own FAQ and visitor pages. They are strict on a few points, so read them before you pack.
- Shoes: comfortable flat shoes or trainers. High heels are not allowed.
- Clothes: easy-to-move clothes that can be folded up to the knees for the water. An abaya can be held or clipped. teamLab suggests white or plain colours if you want photos that stand out against the projections.
- Strollers: not allowed, and storage space is very limited. Leave the stroller in the car.
- Lockers: free lockers are provided, because some areas do not allow personal belongings for hygiene and safety reasons.
- Photos: allowed for personal use, but no flash or external lights. Tripods, monopods, selfie sticks and flashlights are not allowed.
- Light effects: some artworks use strobe lights, flash effects, UV lights and fog. Some areas are dark, enclosed and crowded. teamLab warns that guests who are sensitive to intense sensory environments or have a respiratory condition such as asthma may be affected.
- Children: children aged 12 and under must be with an adult at all times, and some artworks have height limits. Bring a change of clothes for young children, because the water is a draw for them.
- Smoking: not allowed anywhere on the premises, including e-cigarettes.
Getting there from Dubai
teamLab says the fastest road route from Dubai is the E11, and gives about 130 km from Downtown Dubai and about 110 km from Dubai Marina. Our Saadiyat Island guide allows about 1.5 to 2 hours each way by road. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi guide compares the bus, taxi and car options.
On Saadiyat, the main teamLab car park is free with a ticket, and valet parking is offered. If the main car park is full, teamLab points to Saadiyat Car Park 3 and Car Park 4, with a continuous shuttle loop to the entrance. teamLab also lists the free Experience Abu Dhabi shuttle bus, the on-demand Abu Dhabi Link bus and driverless Robo Txai cabs for getting around the island.
Our Abu Dhabi City Tour from Dubai does not stop at teamLab. It is a 9-hour guided day from $45 per person, with hotel pickup at 8:00 AM, covering the Grand Mosque, BAPS Mandir, the Corniche and Heritage Village. If teamLab is the point of your day, book it separately or ask us on WhatsApp about a private car. The private car is $245 for up to 7 people, and museum tickets are bought separately.
Pairing teamLab with other Saadiyat stops
Saadiyat has several museums within a short distance of each other. The table shows the published hours and adult prices as we found them. Check the official sites before you go.
| Place | Hours | Adult ticket | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| teamLab Phenomena | 10:00-22:00, last entry 20:00 | From AED 155 | Dark, timed slots, no strollers |
| Louvre Abu Dhabi | 10:00-18:30 Tue-Thu; 10:00-20:30 Fri-Sun; closed Mon | About AED 65 | Allow 2-3 hours |
| Zayed National Museum | Daily 10:00-20:00; last entry 1 hour before | AED 70 | Six galleries and a garden |
| Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi | Mon-Thu 10:00-18:30; Fri-Sun 10:00-20:30 | AED 70 | Hours as published at opening |
| Guggenheim Abu Dhabi | Opens Friday 11 December; hours not yet published | AED 70 | Per our opening guide |
Hours and prices from official sites and press reports; they can change. Check before you go.
A realistic plan is one daytime museum and teamLab later. See the Louvre Abu Dhabi guide, the Zayed National Museum guide or the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi guide for the first stop. The new Guggenheim opens on 11 December, and our Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opening guide has the details. If you go on a weekday with children, remember the 16:30 last entry for guests under 18 from Monday to Thursday, and do teamLab first.
Is teamLab Phenomena worth it?
Yes, if you like immersive art and photography, and if you can accept a dark, busy space. An adult ticket from AED 155 costs more than twice what the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the Zayed National Museum charges, so it is worth deciding in advance that this is the museum you want.
It is not a good choice for anyone who dislikes dark or crowded rooms, flashing lights or fog, for visitors who need a stroller, or for anyone who wants a guided explanation of each artwork. It is also a long trip for a visit of 1.5 to 3 hours, which is why most visitors from Dubai combine it with another Saadiyat museum or stay a night in Abu Dhabi.
